MG Motor has just unveiled the Cyber X SUV concept at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, offering a glimpse at what could be the next model in its bold, futuristic Cyber lineup, following the Cyberster EV roadster. This SUV is aimed mainly at a younger crowd, The Cyber X makes a strong impression with its boxy design, retro-style pop-up headlights, and a matte-black finish. It’s a modern take on electric mobility with a cool retro-futuristic twist. So what makes this SUV special?
Design: Pop-up Headlights!

The MG Cyber X features a bold and boxy design that blends retro and futuristic elements. Pop-up headlights add an enthusiastic essence, while a full-width LED light bar at the front gives it a modern, high-tech appearance. The floating roof effect, created by smoked pillars, adds to the sleekness of the profile. Dual-tone alloy wheels, flush door handles, and integrated roof rails contribute to a clean and cohesive look. Overall, the design aims to stand out while maintaining a functional and contemporary feel, aligning with the vehicle’s electric and forward-thinking identity.
This design language significantly coincides with the idea behind Tata Sierra. Hence, design-wise, this SUV could be a key competitor to the upcoming Sierra, if priced competitively. The Cyber X measures around 4.3 meters in length, which is also comparable to that of the Sierra’s.
Powertrain and Platform
The Cyber X’s platform is built on the fully electric SAIC Motors platform, which is also MG’s parent company. The Cyber X showcases a cell-to-body battery layout for improved efficiency and spacing. While MG has not disclosed powertrain or performance specs yet, this concept marks a fresh direction in their design and electrification journey.

Verdict
While MG has not confirmed production and entry as of now, this SUV could be impactful and competitive against the upcoming Tata Sierra in the Indian market.
