JSW MG Motor India registered 6,678 vehicle sales in July 2025, marking its highest monthly sales of the year and achieving a 46% year‑on‑year jump compared to 4,575 units in July 2024. This performance also represents a 14.6% increase over June 2025, when the brand posted 5,829 units. The successive growth over two months reflects strong momentum across MG’s lineup and customer segments, signalling that their recent strategic moves are translating into customer sales forward.

EVs Capture The Spotlight, Windsor EV Leads The Pack

The bulk of sales in MG’s portfolio continues to come from its electric vehicles. In June 2025, the Windsor EV alone contributed to 3,799 units, about 65% of total monthly sales, clearly setting it apart as India’s top-selling EV at that time. Other electric models, such as the Comet EV (856 units) and ZS EV (317 units), also made strong contributions, while ICE models like the Hector (757 units) and Astor (66 units) trailed in volume. Despite a total sales leap in July, mixed demand across models suggests that future growth depends on sustaining EV leadership and balancing the ICE portfolio well.

Why July Marks a Key Turning Point For MG India

Several strategic factors seem to have contributed to July’s standout performance. First, the rollout of new premium models like the M9 luxury MPV and Cyberster electric sportscar, available via the new MG Select channel, helped the brand to expand its reach beyond mainstream buyers. Other than this, recent pricing updates and refreshed tech offerings on models like Hector, Astor, and Comet EV helped MG maintain competitiveness. Finally, growing awareness of electric mobility, especially in smaller cities, appears to be lifting MG’s EV volumes, which is helping the brand to maintain strong sales in spite of increased competition.

Can MG Sustain This Growth Trail ?

Reaching 6,678 units in July, up from 5,829 in June and 4,575 a year earlier, gives MG solid momentum for the second half of the year. Its traditional ICE volume from models such as Hector and Gloster remains modest, and much depends on EV portfolio and new entry vehicles from its premium MG Select outlet. For MG, sustaining long-term growth will require scaling its network reach, particularly for EV charging and service infrastructure. It is also crucial to offer affordably priced EV options to attract first-time buyers, and maintaining regular refreshes on the ICE side to offer value as India’s market tilts more toward electric alternatives.
