MG Motor India have launched the ‘Battery as a Service’ (B.a.a.S.) plan for the Comet and the ZS EV SUV. The scheme initially debuted with the Windsor, it allows customers to buy the car without the battery and rent the battery as per usage.
The Comet has been priced from ₹4.99 lakh with a battery rental fee of ₹2.5 per km and the ZS EV now starts at ₹13.99 lakh with ₹4.5 per km for the battery. Notably, the charging prices will be over and above the battery rental cost.
The program brings down the upfront buying cost while also reducing running expenses over an extended period. Both the Comet and the ZS EV are still available for outright purchase just like before and this new plan is just an added ownership model.
With the scheme, the Comet’s entry price is now more affordable by ₹2 lakh, while the ZS EV’s has been reduced by ₹4.99 lakh. However, the carmaker has not yet announced the detailed variant wise prices of either car without the battery.
The program for the ZS EV and Comet will be financed by the same four companies as for the Windsor: Bajaj Finance Limited, Herofin Corp, VidyutTech Services Private Limited and Ecofy & Autovert Technologies Private Limited. All of them will offer their own rental package with their own rates and terms of conditions.
