Mercedes-Benz India have introduced the EQS 680 crossover at ₹2.25 crore (ex-showroom), the first electric offering under the Maybach moniker and to distinguish itself from the standard EQS; it has design, interior and feature updates.

Styling

The massive black front closed off grille now also has vertical chrome strips and the panel is made of indium, which allows beams to penetrate through and so there is no radar sensor visible. It also gets the signature Maybach dual tone paint scheme as an option.

Cabin

The insides are mostly similar to the standard EQS with three display screens, but they have Maybach specific start up sequences. The rear seat entertainment package comprises of two 11.6-inch displays mounted behind the front seats. Also placed at the rear in the armrest is a tablet with MBUX which can even be used outside the car.

Options

It gets two optional rear passenger oriented packages; the ‘Chauffeur‘ package that adds extra seating comfort and the ‘First-Class‘ package which gains thermal cup holders, a shelf for the rear tablet, four USB-C charging ports and two HDMI interfaces. Further elective add ons include folding tables, a cooling compartment and two silver plated champagne glasses for the rear.

Drivetrain

Only available in the 680 trim, it has a dual electric motor setup producing 658 HP, 950 N-m of torque, sent to all four wheels via the standard fit ‘4Matic’ A.W.D. system, which also makes it capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in a claimed 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h.

The W.L.T.P. certified range on a single charge stands at 611 km and with a 200 kW D.C. fast charger, the 122 kWh battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in a stated 31 minutes. The automaker also says that 300 kms can be achieved in just 20 minutes.

Rivals

It has no direct rivals here in India and only kind of gives some competition to the Lotus Eletre solely on the price front, making the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 the second most expensive e-SUV on sale in our country.
