Mercedes-Benz Seeks Stronger Fuel Quality Enforcement
Mercedes-Benz India has raised concerns that suspected fuel adulteration is creating confusion among customers during India’s transition to E20 petrol. The luxury carmaker says several fuel-related complaints may not be caused by ethanol blending itself but by poor-quality or adulterated fuel sold at some filling stations.
According to Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Santosh Iyer, the company has witnessed a noticeable increase in customer enquiries regarding E20-compatible vehicles and fuel quality.
Customer Queries Around E20 Fuel Are Increasing
Mercedes-Benz says dealerships across India have been equipped with detailed FAQs to address growing customer concerns surrounding E20 petrol. The company believes many owners remain uncertain about whether their vehicles are compatible with the higher ethanol blend.
However, Mercedes-Benz has clarified that its latest petrol-powered models are already engineered to handle E20 fuel without issues.
Latest Mercedes Models Already Support Higher Ethanol Blends
The automaker says it was among the first premium manufacturers in India to introduce vehicles compliant with E20 fuel and the associated emission regulations.
Furthermore, the latest Mercedes-Benz S-Class plug-in hybrid sold in India is already compatible with E25 petrol, giving the company confidence that future increases in ethanol content will not pose technical challenges for its vehicles.
