German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has recently initiated recalls for several models to address critical issues realted to the Engine Control Unit (ECU) software and fuel delivery modules. Owners of affected vehicles are advised to contact authorised dealerships and service centers to schedule the necessary replacements free of charge.
What Models Are Affected?
The most recent Engine Control Unit recall is for certain E-Class & C-Class models manufactured recently.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class: Models manufactured between April 29, 2022 and August 20, 2024
Mercedes-Benz C-Class: Models manufactured between August 31, 2021 and October 31, 2021
There is a software glitch in the ECU which might deactivate the fuel injection system while exiting “Sailing Mode” causing the vehicle to lose power and acceleration without prior warning and increasing risks of a collision.
There is a separate recall that has been issued for the following models to address a faulty fuel delivery module, which could lead to the fuel pump switching off, resulting in a loss of acceleration & higher risks of an accident.
GLC: Manufactured from October 7, 2022, to the present.
S-Class: Manufactured between July 20, 2022, and September 29, 2023.
