Mercedes-Benz will open bookings for the new GLC Electric in India from the first week of October 2026. The all-electric SUV is scheduled to launch towards the end of the year and will be locally assembled in India.
Mercedes says the India launch will take place within around six months of the model beginning sales in Europe. Furthermore, the GLC Electric will arrive with all-wheel drive, rear-wheel steering and a large digital cabin.
Battery & Performance
The India-spec GLC Electric will be offered in 400 4Matic guise with a 94kWh NMC battery. It has a claimed WLTP range of up to 715KM and uses a dual-motor setup.
Combined output stands at 490 HP and 800 NM. As a result, Mercedes claims a 0-100 KM/H time of 4.3 seconds, despite the SUV weighing more than 2,500KG. Rear-wheel steering will also be offered as standard.
Standard Wheelbase For India
Unlike several Mercedes models sold in India, the GLC Electric will arrive in its standard-wheelbase configuration. It has a 2,972MM wheelbase, while the long-wheelbase version sold in China adds another 55MM.
However, Mercedes has chosen not to bring the longer version to India. Therefore, interior space will differ from the China-spec model despite the shared platform and design.
Exterior Design

The GLC Electric adopts Mercedes’ latest design language with star-themed LED lighting and an illuminated grille. Its rounded proportions also distinguish it from some of the brand’s more angular recent models.
Meanwhile, AMG Line versions feature sportier bumpers, while the rear gets a wraparound lighting element. Wheel sizes can go up to 21 inches, depending on the specification.
Interior & Technology

The cabin’s main highlight is the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, which stretches across the dashboard. It combines the driver display, central touchscreen and passenger screen into one large digital interface.
Furthermore, the latest MBUX software introduces cleaner menus and an integrated AI assistant. Mercedes has also returned to physical buttons and rotary controls for several functions. However, the cabin remains predominantly digital.
Local Assembly & Expected Price
Mercedes will locally assemble the GLC Electric in India. Consequently, local production could help the SUV achieve a more competitive price than a fully imported electric luxury SUV.
Mercedes has not announced the final price yet. However, the GLC Electric is expected to cost around Rs 80 lakh to Rs 90 lakh (ex-showroom).
Rivals In India
The GLC Electric will compete in India’s premium electric SUV segment. Its most direct upcoming rival will be the BMW iX3, which is scheduled to arrive in India next year in long-wheelbase form.
Meanwhile, the Mercedes will differentiate itself with its combination of a 715KM claimed WLTP range, 490 HP dual-motor powertrain and locally assembled production.
Prices In India
Mercedes-Benz has not yet revealed the official price of the GLC Electric. Based on its positioning and local assembly, the expected price is around Rs 80 lakh to Rs 90 lakh (ex-showroom).
Bookings will open in the first week of October, while the official launch is expected towards the end of 2026.
Verdict

The GLC Electric will expand Mercedes-Benz’s locally assembled electric vehicle portfolio in India. Its 94kWh battery, 715KM claimed WLTP range and 490 HP dual-motor setup give it competitive technical specifications. Moreover, the large MBUX Hyperscreen adds a distinctive technology feature. However, the final price and equipment list will determine how strongly it competes with upcoming luxury EVs.
