Mercedes-Benz will launch the GLC Electric in India on November 4, 2026. The electric SUV will arrive as the 400 4Matic and will feature a 94 KWH battery with a claimed WLTP range of 715 KM. Mercedes-Benz will assemble the model at its Chakan plant in Pune, while bookings will open in October. The company says the GLC Electric will reach India just six months after its European sales debut, making it the fastest global Mercedes-Benz model to enter India as a locally assembled vehicle.
Dual-Motor Setup Produces 490 HP

The GLC Electric 400 4Matic uses two electric motors that produce a combined 490 HP and 800 NM. This setup drives all four wheels and helps the 2.5-tonne SUV accelerate from 0–100 KM/H in a claimed 4.3 seconds. The 94 KWH battery supports DC fast charging at up to 330 KW. Mercedes-Benz claims that a 10-minute charging session can add up to 300 KM of range under suitable conditions. Internationally, the 400 4Matic also gets air suspension and 4.5-degree rear-axle steering.
Distinctive Electric SUV Design
The GLC Electric gets several design elements that distinguish it from its conventionally powered counterpart. Up front, a large rounded grille features illuminated elements, while star-shaped LED DRLs sit above projector LED headlamps. Meanwhile, the side profile features flush-fitting door handles, slim wheel-arch cladding and alloy wheels measuring up to 21 inches. At the rear, star-shaped LED tail-lamps use circular elements and connect through a gloss-black trim. The front Mercedes-Benz badge also gets illumination.
39.1-Inch MBUX Hyperscreen

The cabin features a 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen that combines the driver’s display, central infotainment screen and passenger display into one continuous panel. Mercedes-Benz says this is the largest display it has fitted to a production car. The system runs the fourth-generation MBUX interface and includes an integrated AI assistant. In addition, the GLC Electric retains physical controls on the steering wheel and centre console. The SUV will offer a five-seat layout.
Prices & Rivals
Mercedes-Benz is expected to price the GLC Electric between Rs 80 lakh and Rs 90 lakh, ex-showroom. The company will reveal the final price at launch in November. The electric SUV will enter India’s premium electric SUV segment alongside models such as the BMW iX and other upcoming luxury EVs in a similar price bracket. However, the final equipment list and India-specific specifications will become clear closer to launch.
Verdict

The GLC Electric combines a high-output dual-motor setup with a 94 KWH battery and a claimed 715 KM WLTP range. Its 330 KW charging capability and technology-focused cabin add further highlights. Local assembly should also support Mercedes-Benz’s expanding electric vehicle portfolio in India. The final price and India-spec equipment will determine how the 400 4Matic is positioned when bookings open in October.
