Mercedes-Benz has announced a voluntary recall for the electric version of the Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology in India. The recall affects 99 units manufactured between July 12, 2024, and August 18, 2025.

This marks Mercedes-Benz’s second recall in India during 2026. Earlier this year, the company recalled select Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance and Mercedes-Benz CLE models due to a potential ADAS-related issue.

Mercedes G-Class Electric Recall Details

According to information published by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), certain G 580 electric SUVs may have wheel bolts that do not meet the required specifications.

Mercedes-Benz has stated that the issue could cause the wheel bolts to loosen over time during vehicle operation. If left unaddressed, the wheel connection could also loosen, potentially affecting driving stability and increasing the risk of an accident.

The recall applies only to vehicles manufactured within the specified production period and does not affect all G-Class Electric units sold in India.

What Owners Should Do

Mercedes-Benz dealerships will proactively contact owners of affected vehicles and arrange inspections and repairs free of charge.

Owners who believe their vehicle may be affected can also contact their nearest authorised Mercedes-Benz dealership for verification and further assistance.

The company is expected to inspect the wheel bolt assembly and replace any affected components as part of the corrective action.

Mercedes G-Class Electric Overview

The G 580 with EQ Technology is the all-electric version of Mercedes-Benz’s iconic G-Class SUV. It combines the traditional boxy design of the G-Wagen with a fully electric powertrain and advanced off-road technology.

The luxury electric SUV sits at the top end of the premium EV market and competes with high-end electric SUVs from brands such as Range Rover Electric and other upcoming flagship EVs.

Conclusion

While recalls can raise concerns among owners, this voluntary action shows Mercedes-Benz’s effort to address potential safety issues before they become widespread problems. Owners of affected G-Class Electric models should schedule the inspection as soon as possible to ensure the vehicle remains safe and performs as intended.
