According to reports, a fully electric E-Class is in the works and is set to be launched in the year 2027. Mercedes Benz confirmed of this development in its Capital Market Day Presentation. There is the possibility of an Indian launch as well. The new electric E-Class is expected to rival cars from brands like Tesla , Audi & BMW, with premium features and an extended range to set it apart from its rivals.
Mercedes Benz Electric E Class Details
The teaser of the electric E-Class revealed a silhouette similar to that of the regular E-Class. This suggests that the electric version’s design will be a blend of design elements from the regular E-Class and certain new electric-specific design elements. The new electric E-Class will be larger than the ICE model, and will have features like Level 3 ADAS functionality. This new model may arrive as a replacement to the EQE sedan that is available internationally, and will be sold alongside the ICE variants of the regular E-Class.
Rivals & Competitors
If launched in the Indian market, the electric E Class could rival cars like the BMW i5 and the Audi A6 e-tron. The BMW i5 comes with a 83.9KWH battery pack, which is capable of producing 601BHP and 795NM of torque. The i5 has a range of 516KM.
The Audi A6 e-tron comes with two battery pack options i.e, 83KWH and 100KWH capacities. Power is rated at 367-380BHP, while torque output is rated at 565NM. The A6 e-tron is capable of running up to 756KM on a single charge.
Mercedes Benz Electric E Class India Launch
Although there is no confirmed information on this, it is very likely that the new electric E-Class will make its way to Indian shores. On the electric front, Mercedes has recently launched the electric G-Wagon (Called as the G580 with EQ technology). Mercedes Benz’s electric lineup in India consists of the EQS sedan, EQA, EQB, EQE and EQS SUVs alongside the Maybach EQS.
In India, Mercedes only sells the E-Class LWB, which is priced from Rs 78.5 lakh to 92.5 lakh.
