Mercedes-Benz is preparing to introduce the AMG CLE 53 Coupé to the Indian market on August 12. This model essentially combines the legacy of the outgoing C-Class and E-Class coupés into a more unified design direction. Globally unveiled in late 2023, the CLE 53 Coupé offers both luxury and performance, aiming to simplify the brand’s two-door portfolio. In India, it will join the growing list of performance-oriented offerings from the German automaker, as part of its broader 2025 launch strategy.

Understated Styling That Speaks Bold
The CLE 53 Coupé’s exterior carries many of AMG’s familiar styling traits, but with a slightly more restrained flair compared to more aggressive models in the lineup. Up front, the Panamericana grille sits wide and prominent, complemented by a sharper bumper and air intakes that give it a muscular stance. The side profile is helped by a floating roofline and flared wheel arches, helping it differentiate from more sedate two-door offerings. At the rear, the quad exhausts, subtle diffuser, and slim LED tail-lamps add to its sportiness. Standard 19-inch alloy wheels provide enough visual weight, with optional 20-inch rims available as an option.

Tech-Loaded Cabin
Inside, the CLE 53 continues the brand’s digital-forward cabin theme, borrowing much of its layout from the C-Class but adding performance-focused elements. A vertically placed 11.9-inch infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital cluster dominate the dashboard, supported by AMG-specific themes and controls. The steering wheel is wrapped in a mix of leather and Alcantara with contrast stitching, while the seats offer additional bolstering for those aggressive corners. Cabin materials include metallic accents, soft-touch plastics, and carbon-fiber-style trims in key areas. The feature list is long, with convenience features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient lighting in 64 colours, a Burmester surround sound system, wireless phone charging, and memory seats.

Performance
At the heart, the CLE 53 is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six engine, supported by a 48V mild-hybrid system. It delivers a total output of around 449 HP and 560 NM of torque, with a short overboost window pushing the torque to 600 NM for about 12 seconds. The setup is paired with a 9-speed AMG automatic transmission and 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system, providing grip and power delivery. Mercedes claims a 0–100 KMPH sprint time of 4.2 seconds, which places it well within the realm of serious performance coupés. The top speed is electronically limited at 250 KMPH, but can be increased to 270 KMPH, thanks to the optional AMG performance package. While pricing is yet to be confirmed, it can be estimated near the ₹2 crore mark (ex-showroom), positioning it as a direct rival to cars like the BMW M2 and Audi RS5.
