Maserati has officially launched its all-electric performance duo, the GranTurismo Folgore and GranCabrio Folgore, in India, priced from ₹3.05 crore and ₹3.18 crore (ex-showroom) respectively. This marks the Italian brand’s signal towards electrification in the ultra-luxury segment. Both models look identical to their ICE-powered counterparts, and are built on Maserati’s new lightweight architecture. The “Folgore” badge, which means “lightning” in Italian, represents the brand’s EV sub-line and will gradually expand across Maserati’s portfolio. With the arrival of these two grand tourers, the company becomes one of the few luxury marques offering high-performance EVs in both coupe and convertible body styles in India.

Power-Packed Electric Drivetrain

The GranTurismo and GranCabrio Folgore share the same advanced triple-motor setup, one at the front and two at the rear. It produces a combined output of 761 HP and 1,350 NM of torque. A temporary boost allows the power output to climb to 829 HP. Power is distributed to all four wheels through a sophisticated torque vectoring system, enabling precise control in various driving conditions.

Maserati claims a 0 to 100 KM/H time of 2.7 seconds for the GranTurismo Folgore, while the GranCabrio Folgore (90 KG heavier) does the same in 2.8 seconds. The former has a top speed of 325 KM/H, while the latter maxes out at 290 KM/H, placing these models among the fastest electric GTs in the world. The system supports 800-volt architecture, allowing rapid charging at up to 270 kW, which can replenish around 100 KM of range in just five minutes under ideal conditions. On a full charge, the WLTP-rated driving range stands at 450 KM (GranTurismo Folgore) and 447 KM (GranCabrio Folgore).

Exterior Design Blends Tradition & Modernity

Both Folgore models maintain the unmistakable proportions and character of Maserati’s classic grand tourers. There is not much to differentiate them from their ICE counterparts. They retain hallmark elements such as the sleek LED headlamps and tail-lamps, the signature oval grille with the trident emblem, and the iconic triple vents on the fenders. However, they also introduce a few distinct touches that set them apart from their petrol-powered siblings. This includes redesigned bumpers, unique alloy wheels, and exclusive ‘Folgore’ badging. The GranCabrio Folgore also introduces a soft-top roof that can open or close in 14 seconds, even at speeds up to 50 KM/H.

Interior Features Lot Of Modern Tech

Step inside, and the GranTurismo and GranCabrio Folgore impress with a tech-rich yet driver-focused cabin. Both feature a 2+2 seating arrangement and a dual-tone dashboard that houses a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster. It is complemented by two lower touchscreens managing infotainment and car functions. A digital clock at the centre adds a modern twist to a classic Maserati touch. It gets a flat-bottomed steering wheel, along with features like neck-warming system in the GranCabrio Folgore. To enhance the experience, Maserati integrates artificial engine sounds through the speakers, giving the electric drive an engaging edge.

Bridging Performance & Sustainability

Maserati’s approach with the Folgore twins aims to merge the brand’s performance reputation with a cleaner, quieter powertrain. The electric system has been engineered to deliver instant torque while maintaining the rear-biased handling characteristics that define Maserati’s driving feel. The company’s development team worked closely with Formula E engineers to refine the regenerative braking and inverter technology. While the price places them firmly in the ultra-premium segment, the Folgore duo represents an important milestone for Maserati in India’s high-end EV landscape.
