Maruti’s newest SUV, the Victoris, has received a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP on its unveiling day. This makes it the first Maruti SUV to receive a 5-star safety rating and overall the 4th safest car in India, according to BNCAP ratings. The strong safety rating signals a notable improvement in Maruti’s safety credentials, which have historically lagged behind competitors.


Test Details
Bharat NCAP conducted tests on the top variants, including ZXI+ (O) with mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid powertrains. Despite the focus on high-end models, the 5-star rating applies to all variants due to consistent safety structure and equipment. The Victoris comes standard with six airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, seat-belt reminders and ISOFIX anchors. In adult occupant protection tests, it excelled in side-impact and achieved full scores, while frontal crash protection was rated good for the upper body, with adequate protection around the chest and knees. Child safety tests were equally strong, with full points in dynamic impact and ISOFIX checks, and a good score in vehicle-level assessment.

The SUV scored 31.66 out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 43 out of 49 for child occupant protection. This makes it the 4th safest car in India, only behind the Tata Harrier EV, Mahindra XEV 9e and Mahindra BE6, as per Bharat NCAP ratings.
