Effective from July 23, 2025, Maruti Suzuki has made six airbags standard across the XL6 MPV. Previously, only higher variants offered this safety feature, which also includes driver, passenger, side, and curtain airbags. all trims of the now the base model.
Price

The addition of six airbags has led to a modest price revision of up to approximately 0.8%. Depending on the variant, the ex-showroom price increase ranges between ₹7,000 and ₹10,000, bringing the starting price to about ₹11.92 lakh (ex-showroom).
Powertrain

The mechanical configuration remains unchanged. The XL6 continues to be powered by the 1.5‑litre DualJet petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology, delivering 102 HP and 137 NM. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox, and the CNG variant is still offered.
Safety

This update forms part of Maruti Suzuki’s broader ‘safety shield’ initiative, which aims to equip virtually all passenger vehicles in its portfolio with six standard airbags by the end of 2025. The strategy addresses evolving regulatory expectations and rising consumer demand for enhanced safety features.
Competitive Positioning

Maruti Suzuki’s move aligns with several recent model upgrades from competitors, notably Hyundai and Tata Motors, which had already introduced such safety standards in select variants. The introduction of six airbags across its range may help improve the safety perception of Maruti models, some of which had previously scored low in NCAP tests.
Additional Features

Before this update, the XL6 offered four airbags in all variants and featured active safety systems including ABS with EBD, electronic stability program (ESP), and a 360-degree camera. These features continue alongside the upgraded airbag configuration.
