Maruti Suzuki Recalls 39,506 Grand Vitara Units Over Faulty Fuel Gauge

1 min read

Maruti Suzuki has announced a recall of 39,506 units of the Grand Vitara after identifying a possible problem with the fuel level indicator and warning light. The affected units come from a high-volume production window, as Maruti Suzuki manufactured them between 9 December 2024 and 29 April 2025. According to the company, the part inside the speedometer assembly may not show the actual fuel level accurately, which can lead to confusion for drivers who rely on these readings for refuelling decisions. Although no major incidents have surfaced so far, Maruti Suzuki’s decision to recall such a large number of vehicles shows how important it is to detect such issues early. Owners will receive an official notification and can also check their vehicle status through the dedicated recall portal.

Inspection & Replacement At No Cost To Owners

The recall procedure involves inspecting the fuel gauge component and replacing it if required. Maruti Suzuki will carry out the work entirely free of cost at its authorised dealer workshops. Since the indicator is part of the speedometer assembly, the technicians will test the behaviour of the gauge under different conditions to confirm whether the reading deviates from expected values. Customers shall schedule their service visit after receiving the official recall message from the company. The process is straightforward, but given the number of vehicles involved, service centres may see increased footfall over the next few weeks. Owners who frequently rely on low fuel warnings or travel long distances are advised to get the issue addressed at the earliest for safer operation.

Understanding Why Gauge Accuracy Matters

Fuel gauge problems are not new in the automotive industry, but they require quick corrective action because they affect vehicle usability. A faulty reading can mislead drivers into thinking the tank has more fuel than it actually does, which increases the risk of the engine stalling due to unexpected fuel depletion. This can cause safety concerns if the vehicle stops suddenly in heavy traffic or remote areas. In any car, accurate fuel information is essential for trip planning. By addressing the issue and offering free replacements, Maruti Suzuki aims to ensure that the vehicles operate reliably once technicians install the correct parts.
