Maruti Suzuki is preparing to introduce a new crossover, named the Escudo, to the Indian market. The model is expected to launch by the end of 2025. It will be positioned between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara. The nameplate is shared with an older Suzuki product sold overseas, the Escudo to be sold in India will likely be a new vehicle tailored for our conditions.
Platform & Powertrain

The Escudo will be underpinned by Suzuki’s Global-C platform, the same architecture used for the Grand Vitara & the Brezza. This could also imply potential powertrain sharing with those vehicles, offering the K15C engine available with mild hybrid technology, and Toyota’s TNGA 1.5L 3-cylinder engine paired with their strong hybrid technology. We expect both automatic and manual transmission options as well.
Design & Features

Spy shots and early test mules suggest a similar cabin layout to the Grand Vitara, with a freestanding infotainment unit, automatic climate control, and a heads-up display. A 360-degree camera, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and ventilated front seats will also likely be provided. Maruti may omit some features like a panoramic sunroof or digital instrument cluster to prevent the car from cannibalizing sales of the Grand Vitara in terms of pricing and positioning. The car is expected to be above four meters in length.
Conclusion

Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the Escudo towards the end of 2025. The car will slot in between the Brezza & the Grand Vitara, therefore pricing will likely be between Rs. 10-15 Lakh (ex-showroom). The Escudo’s success may hinge on how effectively it slots in without taking sales from either the Brezza or the Grand Vitara.
