The Maruti Suzuki Invicto has secured a 5-star safety rating in the latest Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) crash tests. It now becomes the third model for Maruti Suzuki after Dzire and Victoris to receive a 5-star rating from BNCAP. This recognition makes it one of the safest models in the company’s portfolio, marking a significant achievement in the area of occupant protection. The testing process included assessments of frontal and side impact crash worthiness, as well as checks for structural stability. The Invicto’s performance across these categories has placed it among the top-rated models evaluated under the Bharat NCAP framework so far.

Focus On Occupant Protection
In the adult occupant protection category, the Invicto scored 30.43 out of 32.00 due to its strong body structure and the inclusion of safety features such as multiple airbags, electronic stability control, and advanced seatbelt systems. The model also performed well in child occupant safety tests, scoring 45.00 out of 49.00. The use of ISOFIX anchorages and recommended child restraint systems helped ensure good protection. Bharat NCAP highlighted that the Invicto offered stable cabin integrity during the crash tests, a factor that contributed to its top rating. These results reinforce the growing emphasis on safety for MPVs in India.

Role Of Bharat NCAP In Raising Standards
Bharat NCAP, introduced as India’s dedicated crash test programme, has played a key role in encouraging automakers to enhance safety in their vehicles. By conducting tests that align with global standards while considering local conditions, it provides buyers with clearer insights into how cars perform in real-world crash scenarios. The Invicto’s 5-star rating is not only a milestone for Maruti Suzuki but also an example of rising demand for safer vehicles in the Indian market. As more cars are evaluated, these results are expected to improve vehicle safety across the industry.

A Boost For The MPV Segment
The Invicto’s strong crash test performance is likely to influence buyer perception in the premium MPV category. The Innova Hycross too secured a 5-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP earlier this year. Safety ratings are becoming an increasingly important factor in purchase decisions. The Invicto’s strong score could strengthen its appeal against rivals in the segment. While the model was already positioned as a strong-hybrid offering, the 5-star Bharat NCAP certification adds more value to it. This achievement underlines a shift in the Indian automotive market where safety is now a central part of customer expectations.
