Maruti Suzuki has introduced a range of SUVs which has helped them gain a large share in the automotive market. However, the sales for the smaller hatchbacks have been poor since SUVs became more favourable. Maruti Suzuki has offered major discounts on cars like the Alto, S-Presso and the Celerio to attract customers. They have decided to find more buyers for the Ignis with the Radiance edition.

The Radiance edition is available across all Ignis trims including Sigma, Zeta and Alpha. The major changes to the Radiance edition are the pricing and accessory list. The Radiance edition costs 35,000 rupees less than the standard edition trims. For instance, the Radiance edition Zeta costs 35,000 rupees less than the standard Zeta trim.
The accessory pack for the Radiance edition Sigma trim is worth 3,650 rupees and comes as standard with the Radiance edition. The pack includes –
Zeta and Alpha trims receive a common accessory package valued at 9,500 rupees. Following is the list of equipment you get with this accessory pack-
The changes are limited to aesthetics and the powertrain remains the same—a 1.2L petrol engine which is capable of producing 82 horsepower and 113 newtometres. You can choose between a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox depending on the trim you opt for. There is no option for an Automatic gearbox for the lowest trim, Sigma.
With the Radiance edition, Maruti Suzuki’s intentions are clear. They wish to attract customers with their heavy price cuts and aesthetic modifications. The deal on offer is tempting since a reduction of 35,000 rupees is significant for a car of this price. The standard edition Ignis starts from 5.84 lakh rupees, while the Radiance edition starts from 5.49 lakh rupees.
Maruti Suzuki hasn’t updated the Ignis since its launch and doesn’t intend to bring out these changes any time soon. It received minor facelifts over the years, but not many notable revisions. Its competition includes the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Renault Kwid, Tata Tiago, Maruti Suzuki WagonR and the Maruti Suzuki Celerio. The Ignis Radiance would be an appealing option for those who seek a funky hatchback at an inexpensive cost and don’t care much about the build quality.
