Introduction Of Jimny To The Bordered Forces For Extreme Conditions

The first batch of 60 Jimny has been handed over to the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). This was the first batch of Jimny to be transferred to the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). These vehicles have been added to the fleet to conquer high altitude locations of Leh-Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh. These cars will be helping the ITBP in patrolling and troop movement.

Why Jimny ?

ITBP has to perform its operations in one of the most extreme weather conditions from snow covered mountains to rugged landscape. They need to conquer it all. The temperature at these locations can go as low as -45 degree Celsius and with the remote locations, the ITBP needs a robust, reliable and capable car to win over the weather and terrain.

Jimny is a great option to take in extreme conditions with its off-road capabilities, reliability, easy maintenance, It seems to be a good option but it does have some drawbacks like It’s engine which feels underpowered at occasions as it only turns out 108BHP and 138NM. Also the automatic transmission of the Jimny fails to provide the instant torque as soon as one floors the accelerator.
