Maruti Grand Vitara Surpasses 3 Lakh Sales In Record Time

1 min read

Maruti Suzuki’s Grand Vitara has achieved a major milestone, crossing 3 lakh unit sales in just 32 months since its launch. This makes it the fastest mid-size SUV in India to reach this impressive figure. The rise has been steady and strong, hitting the 1 lakh, 2 lakh, 2.5 lakh, and now 3 lakh milestones quicker than any of its competitors in the segment.

Why People Are Loving It?

There are many reasons why the Grand Vitara has become a customer favourite:

  • It comes with both strong hybrid and CNG variants, giving users flexibility based on their driving needs and fuel efficiency goals.
  • Premium features such as a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, wireless charging pad, and an upgraded infotainment system.
  • It also scores high on safety with six airbags, electronic stability control, and hill-hold assist. All of these features have helped the Grand Vitara secure a 17% share of Maruti’s Nexa SUV lineup. It stands as the second-highest-selling SUV from the Nexa stable, just behind the Fronx.

A Few Speed Bumps

Even with all this success, the Grand Vitara hit a recent road bump. In May 2025, sales fell sharply, around 47%, dropping it to the 25th spot on the top-selling cars list. This dip might be due to increasing competition, buyer fatigue, or typical seasonal slumps. Priced from around ₹11.42 lakh (ex-showroom), Maruti may need to tweak its marketing or bring a small update to keep the excitement alive.

What’s Next For The Grand Vitara?

To deal with such domestic slowdowns, Maruti is shifting focus toward exports. For FY 2025–26, the company plans to export around 4 lakh vehicles, up from 3.3 lakh the previous year. This could be a smart move as the Grand Vitara, with its efficient hybrid and CNG models, has potential in international markets.

If you’re thinking of buying a mid-size SUV, the Grand Vitara remains a strong option with its mix of features, and fuel-saving tech, and with sales dipping a bit, it might also be the right time to expect better deals or small updates. All in all, the Grand Vitara might continue to be one of the top contenders in its segment.
