Maruti e-Vitara Spotted Without Camouflage

1 min read

Maruti Suzuki’s entry into the electric SUV market is on the brink of arriving in production form. The e-Vitara, unveiled at the Auto Expo 2025, has now been spotted during public testing without camouflage. These latest sightings imply that Maruti’s mass-market EV is closer to launch, even though it had been delayed for a few months.

Spy Shots & Design

Spy shots show the e-Vitara in a Bluish-Black finish, with dual-tone alloys and visible Suzuki branding. The body features split headlamps with Y-shaped LED running lights and a full-width LED strip at the rear. It gets flush-mounted door handles and an aerodynamic wheel design. The exterior design remains unchanged from the Auto Expo display piece.

Powertrain & Platform

The chassis is based on the Heartect‑e electric platform, co-developed with Toyota. It will be powered by either a 49 kWh or 61 kWh lithium‑ferrous-phosphate (LFP) battery. Front-wheel drive will be standard in India, with an all‑wheel‑drive twin‑motor model also available.
The 49 kWh version is expected to produce 142 BHP and 189 Nm of torque. The 61 kWh edition delivers 172 BHP and the same torque. A top‑end AWD spec, fitted with a second motor, boosts output to 181 BHP and 300 Nm. Battery cells are sourced from BYD.

Features & Colors

The e-Vitara will be offered in ten colour combinations with both mono‑tone and dual‑tone finishes, including Arctic White, Nexa Blue, and Land Breeze Green with a dark roof. The cabin features a floating twin‑deck console layout, dual screens with a digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, a panoramic glass roof and Level 2 ADAS.

Conclusion

The car should’ve launched by now, but has been delayed due to a rare materials shortage, which has also forced Maruti to reduce production targets in the April-September period to about 8,200 units. We expect a proper rollout in the upcoming months.
