As India’s motorsport fandom accelerates faster than ever, Mahindra has decided the moment is right to bottle that energy into a road-going electric SUV. The result is the BE 6 Formula E Edition, the world’s first Formula E–themed special-edition SUV, priced at ₹23.69 lakh for the FE2 variant and ₹24.49 lakh for the FE3. Bookings open on January 14, 2026, with deliveries beginning a month later.
On the surface, it’s a clever cultural read: Formula E viewership is rising, race nights are becoming a Gen-Z social event, and motorsport has found itself woven into urban lifestyle trends. Mahindra, India’s only Formula E race-winning team sees an opportunity to bridge its global motorsport presence with its domestic EV ambitions
Wearing Its Motorsport Heart Loudly On Its Sleeve

If subtlety is your thing, this isn’t your SUV.
The BE 6 Formula E Edition is drenched in motorsport-inspired elements, while some are tasteful, some might be borderline flamboyant.
Exterior Highlights

- All-new front bumper with circular projector headlamps and gloss-black bezels
- Four colours: Everest White, Firestorm Orange, Tango Red, Stealth Black
- Firestorm Orange brake callipers (a bold but polarising choice)
- Racetrack-inspired R20 alloy wheels on the FE3; R19 on the standard FE2
- Sporty twin spoilers at the rear
- “Mahindra Formula E” ceramic-painted branding on the windshield
- Signature 12-stripe graphics across the roof and bonnet
- Race-inspired door, fender, and bonnet graphics
- Liquid metal-finished skid plates, side cladding, and various trim elements
- FIA branding on multiple surfaces, the first time an FIA association is so heavily integrated into a mass-market Indian SUV
It is, without question, a visually assertive vehicle. The design team led clearly leaned into the motorsport culture. That said, some may find the sheer volume of decals, badges, and orange accents a bit over the top as this is an SUV that shouts its theme rather than suggests it.
Interior

Mahindra calls it a “race-ready cockpit.” Realistically, it’s a stylised version of one but a well-executed one.
- Firestorm Orange accents everywhere steering wheel, controller, e-brake, start/stop button flap, door straps
- FIA x Formula E plaque on the dashboard
- Formula E logos on seats and trim
- Translucent door inserts
- Dynamic speaker pattern with orange highlights
- Custom Formula E-style startup animation
- Synthetic “Formula E exterior engine sounds” piped through speakers
- Race car–inspired flap over the start/stop button (a fun touch, albeit somewhat gimmicky)
Performance
- 79 kWh battery pack
- 282 BHP (210 kW)
- 0–100 KMPH in 6.7 seconds
- Top speed: 202 KM/H
- 500 KM claimed real-world range
- 20–80% fast charging in 20 minutes (with a 180 kW DC charger)
Driving Dynamics
- Boost mode for quicker acceleration
- Multiple regen levels, including one-pedal driving
- iLink front suspension + 5-link rear
- Frequency Dependent Damping for ride composure
- Low rolling resistance tyres, though these sometimes compromise grip, which could prove ironic in a racing edition
The FE3 variant adds Intelligent Adaptive Suspension, which could elevate real-world handling but remains a feature that will require independent testing to validate.
Technology

- Dual 12.3-inch screens

- Harman/Kardon 16-speaker setup with Dolby Atmos
- Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto

Perhaps the only criticism here is one that applies to most modern connected cars: the growing overload of apps and digital clutter sometimes feels unnecessary. But for tech-forward buyers, this is appealing.
Comfort

- Dual-zone climate control
- Auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming IRVM
- Cooled console, wireless charging, 65W fast Type-C ports
- Frunk with drain hole and light
- Height-adjustable seat and belts

- Acoustic laminated glass for NVH reduction

Even Toddlers Get A Taste: The Ride On BE 6 Formula E Edition
Mahindra has also created a ₹18,000 toddler ride-on version of the SUV. Available April 2026, it mirrors the real BE 6 Formula E Edition with mini aero flares and racing colours, an early brand-building exercise aimed squarely at young families.
In a market hungry for differentiation and in a cultural moment where motorsport suddenly has mainstream momentum, Mahindra’s gamble feels calculated.
