Mahindra has officially revealed that the XUV700 facelift will carry a new name, XUV 7XO, and will make its global debut on January 5. The SUV will replace the XUV700 in the company’s line up and follow Mahindra’s updated naming pattern that began with the XUV 3XO. The first teaser highlights new lighting details, a redesigned grille and fresh badging. Most structural elements appear unchanged, as recent spy shots show the silhouette remains close to the current model. With its debut only weeks away, Mahindra has begun its promotional rollout and is preparing for the next phase in its flagship ICE SUV range.
Exterior Updates Highlight New Signature Lighting & Grille

The teaser video gives a clear look at the revised front and rear. The XUV 7XO features 7 shaped DRLs that wrap the main headlamp units. These sit above trapezoidal LED clusters that draw inspiration from Mahindra’s new generation EVs, including the XEV 9S.

The tail lamps also adopt an updated layout with taller L shaped LED bars. The grille uses a refreshed pattern with silver slats set against a blacked out frame, which gives the SUV a cleaner look. Bumper styling, wheel designs and sheet metal appear mostly carried over. Mahindra seems to focus on minute changes rather than a full redesign, which allows the facelift to stay recognisable while aligning with the newer design language.
Cabin Expected To Get Three Screens

While Mahindra has not shown the interior fully, early images and leaked information point to a triple screen display layout, similar to the setup seen in the XEV 9e & XEV 9S. This arrangement could include a driver display, a central infotainment unit and a dedicated passenger screen. The dashboard may feature new soft touch materials and a revised panel design. A two spoke steering wheel, updated colour themes and redesigned door panels are also likely additions. Seating configurations are expected to stay unchanged, with both 6 seat and 7 seat versions returning. These updates aim to modernise the cabin experience and bring the XUV 7XO closer to newer global rivals.
Engines Expected To Be Carried Over

The XUV 7XO is expected to continue with the current set of engines. These include a 2.0-litre turbo petrol (200 HP, 380 NM) and a 2.2-litre diesel (182 HP, 450 NM), both paired with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes. The diesel will likely continue offering AWD on select variants. Mahindra has maintained strong outputs in the XUV700, and there is no indication of major changes to the powertrains for the facelift. The SUV will continue to compete with models like the Tata Safari, MG Hector and Hyundai Alcazar. Since the XUV700’s pricing ranges from ₹13.66 lakh to ₹23.71 lakh, the XUV 7XO will likely carry a premium. Bookings and test drives shall open soon after the launch, as production of the outgoing model comes to an end.
