It is expected to arrive sometime in 2025 and will primarily challenge the upcoming Tata Harrier and Safari EV twins. Mahindra are expecting a big increase in EV sales in the coming years, so the carmaker will be introducing its ‘born electric’ (BE) range next year; the first of which might be the XUV 700 EV. Test mules of this car have been spotted frequently in recent months.
Design
While still being wrapped in full camouflage, it is easy to decipher that much of the exterior profile will be the same as the I.C.E. version, but this will have a new front fascia to set it apart. To include a closed off grille, new lighting elements and a refreshed front bumper section. The side profile largely remians the same. Some of the highlights include flush door handles, circular wheel arches, chrome window garnishes and slightly tapering rear roof section. The EV will offer aerodynamic and low drag alloy wheels to aid range. The charging port is installed on the left, the same position where the ICE variants have the fuel filler lid. There could be some small tweaks to the tail lights, the tail gate and the rear bumper. It will also feature unique badging will distinguish its electric underpinnings.
Architecture
The automaker’s ‘born electric’ INGLO platform can support battery packs of up to 80 kWh in capacity and this crossover could have a real world range of around 500 kms. A few earlier spy shots had revealed a rear motor, suggesting that the model could have a dual motor AWD option. With its new born electric range, Mahindra can probably improve their ranking and market share in the EV segmen, they are also planning to foray into the petrol hybrid segment.
Features
To get advanced tech features such as 5G network capability, five radars for the ADAS. The vehicle is designed to support future upgrades such as Level 2+ autonomous driving and other ADAS technology. A comprehensive range of connected car features will also be available.
