Mahindra has announced that the combined sales of the XUV 3XO and the older XUV300 have crossed the 4 lakh unit mark. The combined figure stands at 4,06,569 sales as of October 2025. This achievement highlights the strong and sustained demand for the brand’s compact SUVs, which have consistently attracted buyers looking for performance, safety and value. The XUV300 built the foundation after its launch in February 2019, and the newer XUV 3XO has expanded that momentum in since April 2024 with updated styling, features and powertrain options. Together, both models have carved out a clear space for themselves in a crowded segment that includes several long standing rivals.

How The XUV300 Created Early Momentum

The XUV300 was Mahindra’s first modern compact SUV, and it quickly gained traction due to its safety rating, powerful engines and solid road presence. It offered a mix of turbo petrol (1.2-litre, 110HP, 200NM) and diesel (1.5-litre, 115HP, 300NM) powertrains that appealed to various buyers. The model earned a 5 star Global NCAP rating in 2020, which helped build trust among safety conscious customers. Over the years, steady monthly sales and a strong base of repeat buyers helped the SUV achieve 2,49,027 sales (61%) before production shifted towards its successor. The XUV300’s long equipment list and stable ride quality made it a consistent performer even as newer rivals arrived.

The arrival of the XUV 3XO brought a modern design, a more premium cabin and a reworked feature set. It also introduced new automatic gearbox option (TC) for both its turbo petrol engines, which expanded its appeal among buyers wanting convenience in city traffic. Mahindra’s updated compact SUV offers features such as a panoramic sunroof, a digital cockpit layout and Level-2 ADAS on higher variants. This helped it attract buyers upgrading from hatchbacks. In just 1.5 years since its launch, it has accounted for 39% (1,57,542 units) of the total 4,06,569 units sold. With strong early demand, the XUV 3XO added considerable volume in a short time, helping the combined total reach over 4 lakh units (4,06,569 units) by October 2025.

What This Means For Mahindra

Crossing the 4 lakh mark shows how important this segment is for Mahindra’s portfolio. The compact SUV space remains highly competitive, yet the XUV300 and XUV 3XO have performed well by focusing on safety, engine performance and value driven variants. The achievement also strengthens Mahindra’s position in the entry level SUV market, which continues to grow. With the XUV 3XO now taking the lead, Mahindra is better placed to compete with models such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza and Kia Sonet.
