Mahindra continues to reveal details of the upcoming XEV 9S, and the latest teasers confirm two key additions ahead of its November 27 Launch. The company has showcased an electric Boss Mode for the rear seats and a Harman Kardon audio system, indicating a focus on comfort and in-cabin experience. The 9S is the 7-seater sibling to the XEV 9e and will sit higher in Mahindra’s electric portfolio. The SUV also features a large boot, a frunk and updated cabin theme, all of which have appeared in the teasers shared earlier. The 9S uses Mahindra’s INGLO platform, which features fast charging, flat floor and high-output battery systems. With these new confirmations, the company is clearly aiming to elevate the 9S in terms of space and features.
Electric Boss Mode & Spacious Rear Seat Layout
The electric Boss Mode will be one of the headline features of the XEV 9S. This function allows rear passengers to electronically slide and recline the front passenger seat for additional legroom, controlled through buttons placed on the side of the seat. Teasers also show that the second row supports multiple recline positions, indicating that Mahindra is prioritising comfort for chauffeur-driven users. The teaser shows that the rear seats will also offer entertainment screens, likely as an option. The platform is expected to allow a flat floor, removing the central hump and providing more space for three passengers. Mahindra has highlighted the generous boot and frunk capacities as well, suggesting that the SUV will also focus on practicality. These enhancements shall appeal to users who value space and flexibility.
Premium Audio System & Features
Another major addition is the Harman Kardon sound system, which will likely be available on higher variants of the XEV 9S. This system includes Dolby Atmos along with 16 speakers, adding to the tech-savvy profile of the cabin. Its inclusion indicates a notable step up in the cabin-feel. Besides the boss mode, the cabin will also get reclining second-row seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a triple-screen layout like the XEV 9e. This setup includes the digital driver’s display, central infotainment screen, and a dedicated screen for the front passenger. The XEV 9S is also likely to include ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, powered driver’s seat, 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, and Level-2 ADAS.

The XEV 9S sits above the XEV 9e in Mahindra’s EV lineup, targeting buyers who want a feature-loaded three-row electric SUV.
