Mahindra Vision X Unveiled

1 min read

Mahindra has unveiled the Vision X concept SUV at its Independence Day event, indicating a future compact model that could join either the XUV or XEV product line-up. The concept previews Mahindra’s design and engineering direction and is expected to result in a production vehicle by 2027.

Concept Design & Platform

The Vision X features a sporty crossover-like silhouette, blending an upright stance with high ground clearance. Exterior highlights include a sculpted bonnet, raked windshield, coupe-inspired rear window and spoiler, along with upright rear styling. The nose displays Mahindra’s Twin Peaks logo, seen on recent XUV models, while a closed-off grille and stylised lighting may signal a new XEV in the electric range. Slim light clusters, pronounced bumpers, and fog lamp details draw cues from the XEV 9e. Black cladding frames squared wheel arches with large aero-designed dual-tone alloy wheels, and flush door handles and side creases continue the XEV 9e’s theme.

Interior & Features

Inside, the Vision X showcases a prominent, curved display unit merging both the instrument cluster and infotainment system, angled towards the driver for improved ergonomics. The cabin includes a two-spoke steering wheel, a three-tone dashboard, rectangular air vents, and a large centre console featuring individual armrests for front passengers. Storage options and cupholders affirm a practical, user-friendly design.

Technical Details & Powertrain Versatility

The Vision X is underpinned by Mahindra’s flexible NU_IQ modular monocoque platform, engineered to support SUVs measuring from 3,990 MM to 4,320 MM. Like its sibling concepts, it features a 2,665 MM wheelbase, giving it a spatial advantage in the compact segment. While specific engine details are not available, the architecture can accommodate petrol, diesel, hybrid, and full-electric powertrains. This versatility ensures that Mahindra can tailor future Vision X products to suit regulatory demands.

The Vision X joins Mahindra’s new generation of concepts, including Vision T, SXT, and S, all built on the NU_IQ platform, previewing future additions for various Mahindra families. The production version of the Vision X is slated for launch around 2027, as Mahindra expands its global reach and refines these concepts for market readiness. As features and specifications transition from concept to production, adjustments are expected to match mass-market needs.
