Here are the dimensions and interior measurements for the Thar Roxx:

The Thar Roxx is a BIG vehicle. The size of the car is evident when you look at the side profile. The Roxx looks very macho and boxy, but it isn’t a design that will wow you because of some quirky bits. At the front, you find an all-new grille, completely different from the 3-door Thar. The grille has six double-stacked slots, and beside it, you get circular projector LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs; the base variants come with halogen bulbs.
Moving to the side profile, the car maintains its boxy look. The rear quarter glass is triangular in shape, and there’s extensive wheel cladding that extends onto the rear door. You also get 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and a side step.
At the rear, the spare wheel is integrated into the rear door, which opens just like the 3-door Thar, with a separate glass and metal door. The rear design includes a hidden washer and a wiper. A notable addition, missing in the 3-door Thar, is the reverse camera, which is now integrated into the spare wheel.
Moving to the interior, the Thar Roxx offers notable improvements over the 3-door Thar. Up front, the cabin features extensive leather on the dashboard and doors, with ivory stitching. The white upholstery, while premium, may seem out of place given the vehicle’s rugged nature and is likely to become soiled quickly. The Roxx is a 5-seater, not a 7-seater. Rear seat space is ample, providing good headroom and knee room, though tall passengers might find the under-thigh support lacking.
Soft-touch materials are used for all driver touchpoints, and there are several Easter eggs on the windows. A silver plate on the passenger side of the dashboard indicates that the Roxx is made in India. The vehicle includes a panoramic sunroof that extends to the rear, a digital instrument cluster, and a 10-inch infotainment system. While the Roxx employs high-quality materials inside, the upholstery could benefit from darker color options, similar to those in the Scorpio N.
Mahindra has equipped the Thar Roxx with a range of features, including:
The Thar Roxx features Level 2 ADAS, which includes over 10 safety features such as forward collision warning and autonomous emergency braking. It also comes with a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitor, auto-dimming IRVM, and six airbags for enhanced safety.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is available with two engine options. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine delivers 150 HP and 330 NM of torque in the manual transmission (MT) variant, and 160 HP and 330 NM of torque in the higher-spec versions. The 6-speed automatic transmission (AT) version provides 175 HP and 380 NM of torque. The 2.2-litre diesel engine produces 150 HP and 330 NM of torque in the lower-spec MT variants, and 171 HP and 370 NM of torque in the higher-spec 4WD AT versions.
The Thar Roxx 4WD offers numerous systems that enhance its off-road capabilities, including:
The Thar Roxx was a highly anticipated launch from Mahindra, and the Indian market has responded positively. Buyers appreciate the features and pricing of the vehicle, but some are disappointed with certain design aspects, such as the front grille and the gap between the metal hard top and the fiber section that completes the roof. Despite these concerns, the Roxx appears to be more popular than the 3-door model at present. Overall, the car has received mixed responses from buyers, and it will be interesting to see how bookings and sales perform once the initial excitement settles down.

The most direct rival to the new Thar Roxx would be the Force Gurkha 5-door, offering a similarly rugged and off-road-focused experience. Additionally, the smaller Maruti Suzuki Jimny presents itself as a strong competitor despite its more compact size. The Thar Roxx will also face competition from its own 3-door version, as buyers consider both practicality and design.
Test drives for customers will begin on September 14th, 2024, while bookings for the Roxx will open on October 3rd, 2024. These bookings will be accepted both online and offline for a deposit of ₹21,000. Deliveries are expected to commence on October 12th, 2024.
