Mahindra XUV 700 5-seater versions are no longer visible on the official Mahindra website. The high demand for the three-row configuration has led to Mahindra dropping the two-row configuration.

Transition To Three-Row Configuration

Variants like the MX, AX5, and AX5 Select used to be offered in a 5-seater two-row configuration. Now that the 5-seater option is unavailable, the only offering from Mahindra is the 7-seater XUV700. The premium AX7 and AX7 L trims continue to be offered in a 6-seater layout along with the captain seats.

Powertrain Options Remain Unchanged

Independent of the changes made in the Variant list, the engine options remain the same. Mahindra’s 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, producing 200 BHP and 380 Nm of torque, and a 2.2-liter turbo-diesel engine delivering up to 185 BHP and 450 Nm of torque, are still available for their customers. Also, the buyers still have the choice to choose between the 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Price Adjustments

As the 5-seater variants get removed, the base price of the Mahindra XUV700 goes up and now stands at ₹14.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the petrol variant and ₹14.99 lakh for the diesel variant. Previously, the entry-level XUV700 was priced with a ₹13.99 lakh price tag, making it more affordable to get a Mid-size SUV at a reasonable rate.

Conclusion

Mahindra has not officially confirmed that the 5-seater configuration is discontinued, but removing it from the website certainly indicates that Mahindra is more focused on the 6 and 7-seater XUV700. As this shift shows, the popularity of the large family SUV in the Indian Automotive Market. The XUV700 competes with the Tata Safari and the Jeep Meridien in the 7-seater crossover market.
