With the launch of BE 6 and XEV9e, Mahindra has taken its leap into the Born EV technology and is stepping ahead, according to reports, into the Hybrid Powertrain technology. The addition of the Hybrid Powertrain to their current lineup will broaden the choices for the customers, and will be the intermediate between the reliability of ICE cars and the sustainability of EVs.
The electrification of cars in India has been blooming significantly, but still, there are certain aspects like range anxiety and reliability that need to be overcome, and for this, hybrid vehicles are the way to go.
Powertrain

The hybrid setup is expected to have a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The engine will be used to power the generator and, further ahead, will charge the battery, which will eventually transfer the power to the wheels.
Impact On Mahindra’s Lineup

Mahindra is expected to introduce hybrid powertrains in their other cars as well, like the Mahindra 3XO, indicating that their Hybridisation plan is not just limited to BE 6 and XEV9e. Some predictions also reveal that Mahindra is developing a strong/series‑parallel hybrid, most probably for the upcoming 3XO.
Conclusion
With the introduction of the Hybrid Powertrain in Mahindra’s lineup, customers will have more options to make their choices from. Also, Mahindra will be able to compete with their rivals better who already have their hybrid vehicles in the market.
