A heavily camouflaged test mule of the upcoming Mahindra BE.05 fully electric SUV was recently spotted on the Palm Beach road in Navi Mumbai. The spy shots have also captured a Hyundai Ioniq 5 driving alongside it, presumably for benchmarking purposes and comparison of range, performance figures, etc.

Design And Styling

In terms of design, the crossover closely resembles its concept form and does not stray far from it. The front fascia retains the sharp look with the angular bonnet, sleek LED DRLs and a low profile bumper, while the rear features a split spoiler setup along the roofline, above the rear windshield and a tapered rear end, keeping in with the overall styling theme. At the sides it has a coupe like silhouette, with a sloping roof towards the rear and pop out style door handles, as is the trend now.

Battery And Range

Mahindra have stated that we can expect it to feature a 60 kWh battery pack, a claimed range of 450 Km and it should support fast charging of up to 175 kW, which will allow the battery to juice up from 5 to 80 per cent in just about 30 minutes.

Drivetrain Specifications

To be built on the company’s new forthcoming EV-specific ‘INGLO‘ platform which can support both rear and all wheel drive versions. According to the automaker, the rear wheel drive (RWD) models will support up to 285 HP, while the all wheel drive (AWD) variants would offer up to 395 HP.

While the architecture is developed completely in-house from the ground up by Mahindra, it will also share some components from the Volkswagen group ‘MEB’ EV platform.

Expected Launch and Price

Hyundai Ioniq 5 driving alongside, presumably for benchmarking purposes and comparison of range, performance figures, etc.

It is anticipated to be introduced in India by October 2025, but no specifics regarding the cost have been given till now, but upon launch it will rival the likes of the Tata Curvv EV, Ioniq 5, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona Electric and the incoming Hyundai Creta EV, so expect the pricing to be anywhere in the ₹15 to 25 lakh range.
