Land Rover recently introduced the Defender OCTA, boasting the most powerful engine ever offered in a Defender model. The starting price for the OCTA is ₹2.65 crore (ex-showroom).
The Defender OCTA is based on the Defender 110 platform and features a new 4.4-liter mild-hybrid, twin-turbo V8 engine sourced from BMW. This replaces the previous 5.0-liter supercharged unit from JLR. Land Rover claims the name “OCTA” references both the diamond, the hardest known mineral, and its eight-sided shape.
The Defender OCTA produces 635 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque, with the ability to reach 800 Nm using launch control. This propels the SUV from 0-100 kilometers per hour in 4 seconds and achieves a top speed of 250 kilometers per hour.
Land Rover has incorporated additional upgrades alongside the new engine. Mechanically, the car features a new 6D Dynamic suspension system with hydraulic interlinking. This system aims to eliminate body roll during cornering while enhancing off-road articulation.
Other notable changes include:
Interior upgrades include new Performance Seats with integrated headrests. These seats are available in leather or two fabric options, which Land Rover claims are 30% lighter than leather.
For the first year of production, Land Rover is offering a limited-edition Defender OCTA Edition One. This version boasts unique design elements such as a Faroe Green paint finish, carbon fiber inserts, and a two-tone khaki and ebony interior.
The base price for the Land Rover Defender OCTA starts at ₹2.65 crore (ex-showroom), while the limited-edition Edition One will cost ₹2.85 crore (ex-showroom). The official debut of the Defender OCTA will take place at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, with bookings opening afterward.
