Kia Syros EV Launch Timeline & Expected Details

1 min read

Kia India is preparing to launch the upcoming Kia Syros EV in August 2026. Once launched, it will become the brand’s most affordable electric vehicle in India. The compact EV will directly rival models such as the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. Like several rivals in this segment, the Syros EV will use an ICE-to-EV conversion approach instead of a dedicated electric platform.

The electric SUV is expected to retain the same tallboy stance and boxy silhouette seen on the standard petrol and diesel-powered Syros. Spy shots from recent road tests also suggest that Kia will keep the overall styling familiar while adding EV-specific touches. These updates may include redesigned bumpers, aero-optimised alloy wheels and a charging port mounted on the front fender. However, the design changes are likely to remain subtle rather than dramatic.

Cabin Features & Interior Updates

Inside the cabin, the Kia Syros EV is expected to share much of its dashboard layout with the ICE-powered Syros. Kia will likely add EV-specific graphics for the digital displays and introduce unique trim finishes and upholstery combinations. The overall cabin design should continue focusing on practicality and modern technology, which has already become a strong point of the standard Syros lineup.

Feature additions may include vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) functionality, allowing the battery to power external devices or charge another EV. However, it remains unclear whether Kia will reintroduce ADAS features on the Syros EV. The company had removed ADAS from the updated MY2026 ICE-powered Syros range earlier, so the final equipment list will become clearer closer to launch.

Battery Pack, Platform & Powertrain Details

The upcoming Kia Syros EV will continue using Kia’s K1 platform, which already underpins the ICE-powered Syros. Internationally, this architecture also supports the Kia Inster EV. That EV comes with 42kWh and 49kWh battery pack options, and similar capacities are expected for the India-spec Syros EV as well.

Kia is likely to offer the Syros EV with a front-wheel-drive setup. Although official motor outputs and claimed driving range figures are not available yet, the compact SUV is expected to focus on balancing urban usability, practicality and efficiency. The launch timeline reportedly shifted by around six months, but Kia still plans to introduce the EV within roughly one and a half years of the standard Syros debut.

Expected Price & Rivals In India

Kia is expected to price the Kia Syros EV between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh, ex-showroom. This positioning will place it directly against popular electric SUVs such as the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV in the growing compact EV segment.

The launch of the Syros EV will also strengthen Kia’s electric portfolio in India, which currently includes models like the Kia Carens Clavis EV. With buyers increasingly looking for practical and feature-rich electric SUVs, the Syros EV could become an important volume model for the brand in the Indian ma
