Kia India has officially opened bookings for the upcoming Sorento ahead of its India launch. The announcement comes a few weeks after select dealerships reportedly began accepting unofficial bookings. Customers can now reserve the premium SUV through authorised Kia dealerships or the brand’s official website.

Although Kia has not confirmed the launch date yet, the latest teaser suggests the Sorento will arrive in India soon. The SUV will strengthen Kia’s premium lineup with a strong-hybrid powertrain and a feature-rich cabin.

Teaser Reveals Key Exterior Details

Kia’s latest teaser keeps most of the Sorento hidden under a cover. However, it reveals several signature design elements, including T-shaped LED daytime running lights and vertically stacked LED headlamps.

The teaser also highlights prominent roof rails and the SUV’s long profile. The international-spec Sorento measures 4,815 MM in length, 1,900 MM in width and 1,700 MM in height, giving it a strong road presence in the premium SUV segment.

Interior Expected To Offer Premium Features

Kia has not revealed the India-spec cabin yet. However, the global model and test vehicles suggest that the SUV will feature a modern, technology-focused interior.

Expected features include dual 12.3-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, a 360-degree camera, a head-up display and Level 2 ADAS. Buyers can also expect a rotary gear selector and an electronic parking brake.

Six-Seater & Seven-Seater Options Expected

Internationally, the Kia Sorento is available in 5-seat, 6-seat and 7-seat configurations. For India, Kia is expected to offer only the 6-seater and 7-seater versions, targeting families looking for a spacious premium SUV.

These seating options will allow the Sorento to compete with several established three-row SUVs in the segment.

Strong-Hybrid Powertrain Confirmed

Kia has confirmed that the India-spec Sorento will feature a strong-hybrid powertrain. While the company has not announced the final specifications, the SUV is expected to use the global 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid setup.

The powertrain produces 238 HP and 380 NM in international markets. It pairs with a 1.49 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery and a 6-speed automatic transmission, delivering a balance of performance and fuel efficiency.

Prices In India

Kia has not announced the official prices yet. However, the Sorento is expected to enter the Indian market at around Rs. 40 lakh (ex-showroom).

Rivals In India

Once launched, the Kia Sorento will compete in India’s premium SUV segment. Key rivals will include the Skoda Kodiaq and the Volkswagen Tayron. Its strong-hybrid powertrain and premium feature list could also attract buyers looking for an alternative to conventional petrol and diesel SUVs.
