Kia India reported a steady 8 percent year-on-year increase in July 2025, selling a total of 22,135 units. The numbers denote the brand’s consistent presence in a highly competitive market. While the overall growth reflects rising demand across the portfolio, model-wise performance shows a mixed trend, with some cars posting healthy gains and others witnessing a decline.

Sonet Leads The Pack

The Sonet continued to be the top-selling model for Kia in July, recording 7,627 units. Despite strong competition in the sub-compact SUV space, the Sonet has managed to sustain steady demand. Its appeal lies in its diverse engine options, offering two petrol options and a diesel engine, along with a broad feature list. The month’s figures suggest that the Sonet remains a crucial volume driver for Kia, contributing more than a third of the company’s total sales.

Carens Maintains Consistency

The Carens Clavis followed closely with 7,602 units sold. Positioned as a practical three-row family car, it has found stable footing in its segment. The newly launched Clavis, which is also available in electric configuration, is a key reason behind its sales. The demand has remained resilient due to its comparatively accessible pricing for an MPV. Just like the Sonet, the Carens Clavis too accounted for a third of the company’s monthly sales figures.

Seltos Shows Resilient Numbers

The Seltos registered 6,010 units in July, continuing to hold relevance in the midsize SUV segment. While newer rivals have entered the market, the Seltos has managed to maintain its momentum with timely updates. The figures highlight its role as a backbone model that supports Kia’s monthly sales, even as the focus shifts toward other nameplates.

Syros & Carnival At The Lower End

The relatively newer Syros posted 834 units in its early phase of market presence, indicating a modest but developing response. Meanwhile, the Carnival sold 62 units, reflecting its niche status. Both models contribute in smaller numbers, but they showcase Kia’s strategy of offering products across different price points, from premium MPVs to fresh SUV entries.

EV6 & EV9 — All Show & No Go

Kia’s electric lineup, the EV6 and EV9, failed to garner any sales in the month of July. The two premium global EV models couldn’t find any buyers, despite discounts. As a result, Kia is now offering benefits over ₹10 lakh on its EV6 this August. The performance of the two models suggests that Kia is unable to generate demand for its premium electric portfolio, as the usual charging infrastructure issue cannot be cited as an excuse.

Conclusion: Balanced Growth Despite Mixed Trends

Kia’s July 2025 performance underscores a healthy 8 percent year-on-year growth, backed by the Sonet, Carens, and Seltos. While models like the Syros and Carnival are still finding their footing, and premium EVs not able to generate footfall, the overall portfolio mix is helping the company remain competitive. The consistent numbers across segments suggest that Kia is maintaining a well-rounded strategy that caters to diverse buyer preferences in the Indian market.
