In May of 2025, Kia India launched the Kia Carens Clavis, which is a Carens with more upmarket features, a better interior, and overall a more appealing exterior design. The Carens EV had been rumoured for a very long time, and now Kia has finally revealed the Clavis’s electric version with all features, range figures, and other details. The Clavis EV is said to be the first locally assembled EV by Kia.
Kia Clavis EV – Exterior Design

As expected, the Clavis EV looks identical to the ICE version of the MPV, with minor changes to distinguish the EV from its internal combustion counterpart. Starting with the revealed rim design, it’s going to get diamond-cut alloys. This Design mostly focuses on aerodynamic efficiency for more range. There are also LED fog-lamps visible on the front bumper of the vehicle, which are not offered in the regular Clavis.
The charging port is seen to be placed at the front of or charging the EV MPV. Other than these, the overall look of the Clavis EV remains fairly consistent with the internal combustion Kia Carens Clavis EV. This is a relatively subtle design change that could be difficult to distinguish from the Clavis ICE.
Kia Clavis EV – Interior Design

The consistency in design with the internal combustion Clavis continues in the cabin as well. The teaser video from Kia for the Clavis EV showcases a 7-seater version of the Clavis EV, but we are expecting a 6-seater EV model as well with captain seats. There hasn’t been any confirmation by Kia of the interior features that could be exclusive to the EV, and the interior largely resembles the regular Clavis
The regular Clavis offers features such as dual-zone climate control, dual screens, wireless charging and a panoramic sunroof, hence, the Clavis EV will offer these features as well. The centre console also features a storage console instead of the gear lever with buttons on top of the cubby hole. Other than these, the interior remains consistent in design with the regular internal combustion Clavis.
Kia Clavis EV – Powertrain, Range & Performance

The Clavis EV will be powered by a single electric motor and is likely to be offered with two battery options: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh, which can be found in the Creta EV as well. The single motor will send power to the front wheels, which will make the Clavis EV a front wheel drive MPV. The claimed range by Kia for the Clavis EV is 490 KM on a single charge. The 51.4 kWh battery powers a 171 BHP motor in the Creta EV, but we may see a lower power output motor being powered by the smaller battery for the lower variants, hence possibly the 135 HP motor found in the Creta EV being powered by the 42 kWh battery.
Kia Clavis EV – Expected Pricing And Rivals

The Kia Clavis EV is expected to launch on 15th July and the expected pricing for the Clavis EV is from 16 Lakh Rupees (Ex-showroom) to 22 Lakh Rupees (Ex-showroom) for the top variants. Upon launch, the Clavis EV might become the most affordable 7-seater MPV in the Indian market. The Main Rival of the Clavis EV will be BYD eMax 7 and the likes of the Toyota Innova Hycross and Maruti Suzuki Invicto, as an Electric alternative to the two internal combustion and hybrid MPVs.
Kia Clavis EV – Verdict
The Kia Clavis EV will appeal to larger families looking for an MPV with low running costs, as the running cost of an EV MPV will be much lower than an internal combustion MPV. It would also appeal to customers looking for a premium and comfortable EV that can be comfortable for longer trips and journeys. More details will be revealed during the Launch of the Kia Carens Clavis EV.
