Kia has revealed the specifications of the upcoming Carnival strong-hybrid MPV in India. The hybrid version is expected to launch in the coming weeks and will be sold alongside the existing diesel-powered Carnival. It uses the same 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine as the Kia Sorento, but gets a more powerful electric motor.
Kia Carnival Hybrid Engine & Electric Motor
The Carnival hybrid will use a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 180 HP and 265 NM. These figures are the same as those of the Sorento hybrid. However, the Carnival gets a more powerful electric motor, producing 73.4 HP and 304 NM.
The electric motor produces 8.4 HP and 40 NM more than the unit used in the Sorento. Kia has not yet revealed complete details of the Carnival hybrid powertrain. However, it is expected to use a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission, similar to the Sorento.
Kia Carnival Hybrid To Be Sold Alongside Diesel

The new hybrid powertrain will be offered alongside the existing diesel version of the Carnival. The current model uses a 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 190 HP and 441 NM. It is paired with an 8-speed torque-converter automatic transmission and sends power to the front wheels.
Kia is yet to reveal the exact variant structure and pricing of the hybrid version. The Carnival is currently available in a single Limousine Plus variant, which is priced at Rs 59.65 lakh (ex-showroom).
Kia Carnival Hybrid Features & Safety
The Carnival hybrid will retain the same exterior and interior design as the diesel-powered version. Its equipment list will also remain largely unchanged. Key features include dual 12.3-inch screens, with one serving as the digital instrument cluster and the other as the infotainment display.
Other features include 3-zone climate control, a 12-speaker Bose sound system and powered, ventilated and heated front seats. The MPV also gets a range of driver assistance and convenience features.
Kia Carnival Hybrid Safety Features
Safety equipment on the Carnival includes 8 airbags, Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems and a 360-degree camera. The MPV also gets disc brakes on both the front and rear axles.
The hybrid version is expected to retain the same safety equipment as the existing Carnival. Kia has not yet announced whether any additional safety or driver assistance features will be introduced with the hybrid powertrain.
Kia Carnival Hybrid Launch Timeline
Kia is expected to launch the Carnival strong hybrid in India in the coming weeks. The specifications were revealed alongside the launch of the Sorento, which also uses a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid powertrain.
The Carnival hybrid will become another electrified model in Kia India’s upcoming product portfolio. The company has previously outlined plans to introduce eight electrified vehicles in India, including the Sorento HEV, Carnival HEV and Syros EV.
Kia Carnival Hybrid Price Expectations

The current Kia Carnival is priced at Rs 59.65 lakh (ex-showroom) in its Limousine Plus diesel variant. Kia has not announced the price of the hybrid version yet.
The final pricing and variant details are expected to be announced closer to the launch. The hybrid version is likely to be positioned above the existing diesel model, although Kia has not confirmed its pricing strategy.
