The Kia Carens has been a successful MPV in the Indian market. Before its launch, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga dominated the MPV market. Carens sales have been blooming and waiting periods can exceed 3 months. Kia has now started testing the 2025 version of the Carens with several updates.
Improvements Over The Previous Generation
It is difficult to judge the aesthetic changes due to the camouflage, but as far as we can tell, there will definitely be modifications done to the headlamp and taillamp styling. The overall design language remains identical to the outgoing version while minor revisions to the bumpers can be seen. Kia seems to have copied traits like the headlights from the EV5, an electric MPV that Kia plans to sell in global markets. The test mule was also spotted with new alloy wheel designs.
Features
The current Carens comes with ADAS and rumours suggest that the facelifted version will continue to have other existing features like the 360 degree parking camera, 10.25-inch infotainment screen and panoramic sunroof as well.
Powertrains
Powertrain options are set to be carried over from the outgoing generation, a diesel and a turbo petrol engine, both 1.5 litres in displacement. As for the transmissions on offer, you get many options, depending on the engine; you get the choice of MT(P,D), iMT(D), DCT(P) and TC(D) gearboxes.
*P=Petrol, D=Diesel
Expected Pricing And Launch Date
The current generation is going strong as far as sales are concerned and there is no urgent requirement for a facelift at the moment, Kia plans to unveil the facelift by mid 2025. Its primary competitors are the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and XL6 duo, while also fitting in the same price bracket as the lower variants of Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and MG Hector Plus.
Expectedly, there will be a price hike for the face-lift and might start at the ₹12 lakh mark and go up to ₹25 lakh. The Carens has been very successful for Kia in India due to it providing great value for money, so as long as the price is attractive, the face-lift will still sell in decent numbers.
