Kia India has updated its Carens Clavis range by introducing the new HTX(O) variant, priced at ₹19.27 lakh (ex-showroom). Alongside, the company has also rolled out affordable 6-seater variants, expanding customer choice within the Clavis lineup. The update seems a move by Kia to strengthen its presence in the premium MPV space, which has seen growing competition in recent months. The Carens Clavis, introduced earlier this year, sits above the Seltos in Kia’s portfolio, combining SUV-inspired design with the practicality of an MPV.

New 6-Seater Layouts Across Mid-Spec Trims
One of the key update is the introduction of 6-seater variants in the mid-spec HTK+ and HTK+(O) trims. Previously, the Carens Clavis was available with a 6-seater layout only on the HTX+ trim, but the addition of captain seats in more variants provides buyers with greater flexibility. The HTK+ trim gets a 6-seater layout with both the turbo-petrol DCT and diesel AT, whereas the HTK+(O) offers it only with the turbo-petrol DCT. Kia’s decision to make the 6-seater layout more accessible is aimed at appealing buyers seeking a more premium cabin experience without stepping up to higher-end models.
Below are the prices of the new variants of the Kia Carens Clavis:
| Variant | Powertrain | Price (ex-showroom) |
|---|---|---|
| HTK+ 6-seater | Turbo-Petrol DCT | ₹16.28 lakh |
| HTK+ 6-seater | Diesel-AT | ₹17.34 lakh |
| HTK+(O) 6-seater | Turbo-Petrol DCT | ₹17.05 lakh |
| HTX(O) 6-seater | Turbo-Petrol DCT | ₹19.27 lakh |
| HTX(O) 7-seater | Turbo-Petrol DCT | ₹19.27 lakh |
HTX(O) Variant Adds More Tech & Comfort Features
The newly introduced HTX(O) trim builds on the HTX variant by adding several convenience and safety features. It sits just below the top-spec HTX+ variant. The HTX(O) comes equipped with dual 12.3-inch displays, connected car technology, ventilated front seats, and a wireless phone charger. It borrows the 8-speaker Bose audio system from the HTX+ variant, making it more accessible. Other than that, all features from the lower trims have been carried forward. This includes multiple drive modes (Eco, Normal and Sport), an electronic parking brake with auto hold, 17-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, LED headlights, and ambient lighting. On the safety front, the variant offers Level 2 ADAS, 6 airbags, ESC, TPMS, hill-start assist, and all-wheel disc brakes. Notably, the new HTX(O) variant comes with only the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol DCT powertrain.

Engine Options & Market Positioning
The Carens Clavis range continues with the familiar 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. The HTX(O) variant gets two powertrains, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with DCT (160 HP, 253 NM). Despite no mechanical changes, the wider variant lineup now allows Kia to cater to a broader audience. With prices for the Carens Clavis starting at ₹11.08 lakh (ex-showroom), Kia has created a strong bridge between its mainstream and premium models. The refreshed range is expected to drive festive season demand, especially among buyers looking for a feature-rich family mover.
