Kia plans to introduce the HTM version of the Carens Clavis EV, designed specifically for taxi and fleet operators. Built on the base HTK+ trim, this new variant will retain the 42 kWh battery and deliver a claimed ARAI range of around 404 KM. The motor outputs 135 PS with 255 NM of torque, matching the standard EV format. With a price tag of approximately ₹18.19 Lakh (ex-showroom), it comes in slightly higher than the base variant while offering features tailored for commercial operations.

Taxi-Grade Safety & Controls

Beyond the regular EV equipment, the HTM adds taxi-specific safety items such as an integrated GPS tracker, six panic buttons, and a mandated speed governor capped at 80 KM/H, enhancing passenger security. Child locks are also deactivated to prevent accidental rear-door opening, aligning with industry norms for fleet vehicles. These features meet regulatory needs and support safer trip management for operators.

Despite its commercial purpose, the HTM retains many creature comforts available in the HTK+ trim. It will come equipped with dual 12.25-inch displays for infotainment and driver view, cruise control, regenerative braking paddles, i‑Pedal braking, LED DRLs, and 16-inch aero-optimized wheels. It preserves the practical seating layout with electric tumble second‑row seats, rear AC vents, and sliding reclining functionality. These elements make the HTM taxi variant functional without sacrificing basic usability or comfort.

Compared to the standard HTK+, the HTM commands a ₹20,000 premium but delivers significant value for operators. It adds driver‑oriented navigation and safety gear as standard, while keeping the core hardware otherwise unchanged. The taxi version aims to fulfil both fleet expectations and passenger comfort by offering built-in essentials without aftermarket retrofits.
