Kia India has launched the Carens Clavis EV HTM at a price of ₹18.20 lakh (ex-showroom), with availability restricted to fleet operators. This move positions the electric MPV as a dedicated option for commercial transport services, rather than private buyers. By targeting the fleet market, Kia aims to cater to taxi services, corporate mobility solutions, and institutional transport needs. The exclusive focus on fleets could help the brand capture consistent demand while enabling bulk procurement for operators who prioritise low running costs and cleaner mobility. This makes it a mere 20,000 rupees more expensive than the trim that it is based on, namely the HTK+ trim.

Features & Equipment Package
While designed for fleet use, the Carens Clavis EV HTM still comes with a set of functional and comfort-focused features. It is based on the long-range EV platform, ensuring better range. Key equipment includes automatic climate control, dual 12.25-inch displays with connectivity features, regenerative braking paddles, i‑Pedal braking, LED DRLs, and 16-inch aero-optimized wheels. Standard safety kit includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors. The interior layout is kept simple, while still providing enough comfort for passengers on longer trips.

Beyond the regular EV equipment, the HTM adds taxi-specific safety items such as an integrated GPS tracker, six panic buttons, and a mandated speed governor capped at 80 KM/H, enhancing passenger security. Child locks are also activated to prevent accidental rear-door opening, aligning with industry norms for fleet vehicles. These features meet regulatory needs and support safer trip management for operators.
Powertrain & Range Capabilities
Kia has equipped the Carens Clavis EV HTM with the 42 kWh battery pack, matching the standard EV format. Similar to the other variants, it will offer a claimed ARAI range of around 404 KM. The motor is tuned to provide adequate performance for city and highway driving, with an emphasis on efficiency over outright speed. Charging support is likely compatible with both AC and DC options, which would help operators minimise downtime during peak hours.

Market Position & Outlook
With the Carens Clavis EV HTM, Kia enters growing segment of fleet-focused electric MPVs in India. The ₹18.20 lakh pricing aims to balance affordability with operational viability for fleet buyers, who often assess total cost of ownership over the vehicle’s lifespan. The EV’s potential appeal lies in its lower running costs compared to petrol or diesel alternatives, along with reduced maintenance due to reduced moving parts. As urban areas tighten emission regulations and fleet operators look for more efficient options, models like the Carens Clavis EV HTM could see steady demand, particularly in metro cities where EV charging infrastructure is expanding with demand.
