JSW MG Motor India will launch the new Hector Hawk in India on August 26. The upcoming SUV will become the first MG model in the country to use the brand’s new ADAPT platform. Buyers will get a choice of battery electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. As a result, MG will further strengthen its electrified vehicle portfolio in India.
The Hector Hawk will sit above the current MG Hector. Moreover, it will target buyers looking for a premium three-row SUV with modern technology, practical features and multiple powertrain options.
MG Hector Hawk Exterior Design & Dimensions

The Hector Hawk is based on the globally sold Wuling Starlight 560. The SUV measures 4.7 metres in length, 1.85 metres in width and 1.7 metres in height. Consequently, it offers proportions suitable for the premium family SUV segment.
Spy images reveal rectangular LED headlamps, distinctive LED daytime running lamps and a blanked-off front grille on the EV model. In addition, the SUV gets connected LED tail-lamps, a roof spoiler and a charging port on the left rear fender. Overall, the design looks modern and clean.
Interior Gets Premium Features & Modern Technology

Inside, the Hector Hawk is expected to feature a minimalist dashboard with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The cabin also promises a spacious three-row layout with premium materials.
Furthermore, expected features include a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, a 50 W wireless charger, automatic climate control with rear AC vents and a 6-speaker audio system. Therefore, the SUV should offer a comfortable experience for both daily drives and long journeys.
Safety Package Includes ADAS
MG is expected to equip the Hector Hawk with a comprehensive safety package. Standard equipment could include six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill-hold assist, an electronic parking brake and a rear parking camera with sensors.
Additionally, higher variants are likely to offer an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite. This package could include several active safety technologies to improve driver confidence.
EV & Plug-In Hybrid Powertrains

The EV version is expected to use a 69.2 KWH battery pack paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing 201 HP and 310 NM. It is claimed to deliver a driving range of up to 530 KM under the CLTC testing cycle.
Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid version is expected to pair a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 20.5 KWH battery pack and an electric motor. Together, the system is expected to produce 195 HP and 230 NM. It could also deliver an electric-only driving range of up to 125 KM.
New ADAPT Platform Supports Future Models
The Hector Hawk will introduce MG’s new ADAPT platform in India. This architecture supports battery electric, plug-in hybrid, range-extender and strong-hybrid powertrains. As a result, MG can develop multiple products on the same platform.
Initially, the company will focus on EVs and PHEVs. However, the platform also leaves room for future electrified models if market demand increases.
Prices In India
JSW MG Motor India has not announced the official prices yet. However, reports suggest the Hector Hawk could start at around Rs 24 lakh (ex-showroom) for the plug-in hybrid variant. The electric version is also expected to carry premium pricing. MG will announce the complete price list at the official launch on August 26.
| Variant | Expected Ex-Showroom Price |
|---|---|
| MG Hector Hawk PHEV | Around Rs 24 Lakh |
| MG Hector Hawk EV | To Be Announced |
Rivals
The MG Hector Hawk EV is expected to compete with the Mahindra XEV 9S. Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid version is likely to rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO and the Tata Safari. Therefore, buyers will have another electrified option in the premium three-row SUV segment.
Conclusion

The MG Hector Hawk will introduce a new platform, fresh styling and electrified powertrains to MG’s India lineup. Moreover, the combination of EV and PHEV options could attract a wider range of buyers. With the official launch scheduled for August 26, the SUV will soon reveal whether it can strengthen MG’s position in India’s competitive premium SUV market.
