The Jetour T2 has recently generated attention for its rugged design and off-road capabilities in the Middle East, drawing comparisons to the renowned Land Rover Defender. Positioned as a compact SUV by Chery, the T2 combines a tough exterior with modern features for adventure enthusiasts. As the Indian SUV market continues to expand, the question arises: Is the Jetour T2 a viable option for Indian buyers, or is it simply another 4×4 in a crowded segment?

Design

The Jetour T2 features a boxy, rugged design that reflects its off-road intentions. It has a prominent front grille, flanked by angular headlights, which gives it a strong and upright stance. The overall silhouette is compact, with defined body lines and high wheel arches that contribute to its robust appearance. Practical elements such as roof rails and skid plates add to its functional design, emphasising its versatility. While its design is inspired by off-road vehicles, the T2 maintains a modern and balanced look, making it suitable for both urban and outdoor environments.

Due to its striking resemblance to the Land Rover Defender at a much lower price, this vehicle would certainly appeal to Indian buyers who are looking for lifestyle SUVs that scream power and toughness.

Interior

The interior of the Jetour T2 is designed to offer a practical and comfortable experience. The cabin features a straightforward layout with modern touches, including a digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system. The materials used are durable, with a focus on easy maintenance, which is in line with its rugged exterior. The seating offers adequate space for both front and rear passengers, with a functional design that prioritises comfort for short to medium trips. The cabin also includes essential features such as USB ports, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, and intelligent assisted driving features, making it a practical choice for everyday use and occasional off-road adventures.

Powertrain and Transmission

Under the hood, the T2 offers a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.  The engine produces 254 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque. Equipped with the latest sixth-generation 4WD system from BorgWarner it gets advanced electronic drive modes as well.

Pricing

As of now, the Jetour T2 has not been officially launched in India, and there is no confirmed pricing available for the Indian market. However, based on international pricing and currency conversion, the approximate cost of the Jetour T2 in India would be between ₹32 lakh and ₹34 lakh. This estimate considers the vehicle’s price in the UAE, which is around AED 146,000, and factors in exchange rates and import duties. The actual price in India may vary once the vehicle is officially launched and local pricing is announced, but as of now, there’s no potential for this vehicle to launch in India

The Jetour T2 could be a hit in the Indian market, offering a relatively powerful engine, 4WD system, and an up-to-date interior that could appeal to the Indian mass market. It offers a thoroughly modern and comfortable cabin with butch styling and good road presence
