The Jeep Compass Sandstorm Edition is a new variant of the Compass, aimed at offering a more rugged aesthetic package. It adds to the existing Compass while introducing subtle changes to appeal to buyers seeking something that looks a little different.
Design Tweaks
The Jeep Compass Sandstorm Edition features minor cosmetic updates. On the outside, it sports Sandstorm-themed decals and a new grille design. These additions give it a slightly more rugged look compared to standard variants. The overall design remains largely unchanged.
Interior Changes
Inside, the Sandstorm Edition gets a few tweaks. The upholstery is refreshed with new materials, and the interior styling is subtly tweaked. There have been no feature additions or any other changes.
Powertrain
Mechanically, the Jeep Compass Sandstorm Edition remains identical to the regular models. It is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged multijet diesel engine that delivers 170 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, which is paired to either a 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic transmission. This edition does not include Jeep’s 4×4 capability, which doesn’t make sense for the “Sandstorm Edition” and makes it more of a cosmetic bump rather than a meaningful new edition.
Safety & Driving Dynamics
The driving experience is consistent with other Jeep models, offering good road manners and adequate power delivery. It performs well on highways and roads offering an engaging driving experience.
Safety remains a strong point for the Jeep Compass, as it carries forward features like multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control and ESC. The Compass also scored a 5-Star Euro NCAP crash test rating. The Compass has had a good track record in terms of real-world safety as well.
Pricing
Overall, the Sandstorm Edition is priced around Rs. 50,000 more than the equivalent standard variants, just for some cosmetic tweaks. It doesn’t come with 4×4 which is what would be expected giving its name. The entry-level Sports trim costs Rs 19.49 lakh, while the Longitude and Longitude (O) variants cost Rs 22.83 and Rs 25.33 lakh, respectively. The Sandstorm Edition gets an automatic transmission option in the Longitude (O) trim. It is priced at Rs 27.33 lakh (ex-showroom).
