Jeep Compass Leaked Before Launch

1 min read

Jeep is developing the next-generation Compass SUV, expected to launch in 2026. Spy shots and leaked images show a more rugged, boxier design compared to the current model. The new Compass will offer three powertrain options: internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid, and a fully electric (EV) version. A tougher Trailhawk variant will also be available, aimed at off-road enthusiasts. Lets dive into the details:

Design

The 2026 Jeep Compass gets a new look, making it a big step up from the current model. Its design draws inspiration from the smaller Jeep Avenger, adding a refresh. At the front, the new Compass features a more sculpted and sleeker fascia. Highlights include boxy LED headlights with integrated DRLs, larger lower air intakes, and what appear to be LED projector fog lights. At the rear, it sports connected LED tail lights, a backlit Jeep logo, and chunky bumpers for a tough, modern look.

The side profile reveals sharp character lines that give the SUV a chiselled, muscular appearance. A more rugged Trailhawk version is expected, with leaked images showing it in white. This version has more unpainted black cladding, a chunkier front bumper, and a black hood decal for added aggression.

A bright green version, likely the fully electric model, features an “e” badge on the tailgate. Interestingly, both ICE and EV variants share the same alloy wheel design. Underpinning the new Compass is Stellantis STLA Medium platform which is already used in new Peugeot, Opel, and Citroën models like the latest C5 Aircross.

Interior

On the inside, we can expect a new interior design with a more premium appeal. In one of the leaked photos, There seems to be a floating centre console, multiple soft-touch plastic elements with stitching, a centrally mounted rectangular infotainment screen, leather seats with Jeep logo and even a panaromic sunroof.

Powertrain

Jeep has confirmed mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric powertrain options. The Previous Compass offered a 2.0-liter Multijet II diesel engine or a 1.4-liter turbo-petrol engine. The diesel engine comes with either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic transmission, while the petrol engine is available with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. We could expect the addition of mild hybrid or strong hybrid tech to these engines for the Indian market along with 4×2 as standard and 4X4 in some variants.

Pricing

The upcoming 2026 Jeep Compass is expected to launch with an introductory price of Rs. 19 Lakh (ex-showroom) and will go upto Rs. 33.50 Lakh (ex-showroom) for the top variant 4×4 models. At this price point, the compass will compete with the likes of the Mahindra ScorpioN, Thar Roxx and the XUV700.

Verdict

The upcoming 2026 Jeep Compass will see a brand new stylish refresh for the model while retaining its off-road presence and capabilities with the addition of new market relevant features. It will most definitely be a capable off-roader but will now offfer comfort oriented features. We still have to wait until this vehicle is officially launched for more information.
