Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), has reportedly already started working on the next-generation model of their bestselling Creta crossover. As a car that leads the entire segment in terms of sales and is one of the most valuable nameplates in the market, we are curious to know what Hyundai has in store.
The Creta’s Success

The Creta has been a blockbuster success for the Korean carmaker, attributed to its premium interiors and road presence. It frequently outsells many cheaper Maruti models such as the Celerio & Alto which is a huge achievement considering its positioning in the mid-size C2 segment & pricing. Initially launched in 2015 as Hyundai’s entry into the compact SUV segment, the Creta featured powerful petrol & diesel engines and Hyundai’s robust after-sales support. It received a facelift in 2018, with several convenience features such as a sunroof added. Hyundai overhauled the design in 2020, with a new albeit polarizing design, split LED headlights and new powertrain options. It added many new features such as a panoramic sunroof too. This generation was facelifted last year, with a refreshed design and an updated interior.
Details

The South Korean carmaker has already begun work on the third generation of the Creta, codenamed SX3. The crossover will be produced locally at Hyundai’s plant in Tamil Nadu, featuring the same powertrain options as the current Creta, with 3 engine options – a turbo-petrol, a naturally aspirated petrol and a turbo-diesel. Hyundai might equip it with a mild-hybrid system as well. Hyundai is expected to further lengthen the list of convenience features in the vehicle and add several safety enhancements, with the vehicle being sold to customers in 2027.
