The Hyundai Verna has been Hyundai’s premium C-segment sedan for years now, competing with the Honda City, the Volkswagen Virtus, and the Skoda Slavia. The current iteration offers good performance, safety and features, yet looses out in the looks department; you either hate it or love it. Ahead of the official release, a test mule was spotted, wearing heavy camouflage on the road.
Front Fascia & Design
The Hyundai Verna 2026 Facelift introduces some exterior changes that continue Hyundai’s current design language. Based on early spy shots, most updates are concentrated on the front fascia, where the bumper design appears smoother and more integrated with the bodywork.

Engine & Transmission Options
Under the hood, Hyundai continues to offer two powertrain choices without alteration. The base engine remains a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit delivering 115 BHP, paired with either a six-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. For those seeking more performance, the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine remains available, offering 158 BHP. This engine will be offered with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, ensuring quicker gear shifts and a more engaging drive. These powertrains have been well-received in the existing model, and their presence in the facelift indicates continued emphasis on reliability and efficiency rather than experimental upgrades. There are currently no expectations of hybrid or diesel options in the 2026 lineup.
Market Positioning & Price Expectations
The Hyundai Verna 2026 Facelift is expected to launch in the Indian market sometime in 2026, with pricing slightly above the current model. The sedan will continue to compete with established rivals such as the Honda City, Skoda Slavia, and Volkswagen Virtus. Hyundai’s strategy with this facelift appears focused on reinforcing the Verna’s value proposition through convenience-based upgrades rather than dramatic overhauls.
