Hyundai Motor India has entered the commercial mobility space with the launch of its dedicated Prime Taxi range, aimed solely at fleet and taxi operators. The line-up includes the Prime HB, based on the Grand i10 Nios, and the Prime SD, derived from the Aura. Prices start at ₹5.99 lakh for the Prime HB and ₹6.89 lakh for the Prime SD, ex-showroom. This makes them among the more affordable factory-fitted CNG taxi options in their segments. Bookings have opened nationwide with a token amount of ₹5,000, marking Hyundai’s first formal push into an area long dominated by brands like Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors.
CNG Powertrain Tuned For High Usage

Both Prime HB and Prime SD use Hyundai’s familiar 1.2-litre Kappa four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a company-fitted CNG system and a manual gearbox. This setup focuses on low operating costs and predictable performance for high-mileage users. Hyundai claims a fuel efficiency of 27.32 KM/KG for the Prime HB and 28.40 KM/KG for the Prime SD. These figures translate into an estimated running cost of about ₹0.47 per KM in CNG mode, as claimed by Hyundai. To meet commercial regulations, both models come with a factory-installed speed limiting function capped at 80 KM/H. The mechanical package remains simple and proven, which should help fleet owners manage maintenance and downtime more effectively.
Safety & Comfort Prioritised For Commercial Duty
Unlike many stripped-down taxi offerings, Hyundai has retained a strong safety baseline for its Prime models. Both vehicles come with six airbags as standard, along with three-point seatbelts for all passengers. Both models even get rear parking sensors, emergency stop signal, and ISOFIX-compatible seating architecture. Comfort features include rear AC vents, front Type-C fast charging ports, front and rear power windows, steering-mounted audio controls, and height adjustment for the driver’s seat. Optional equipment allows operators to add a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rear camera, and a vehicle location tracking device with four panic buttons, depending on operator needs.
Ownership Packages & Conclusion

Hyundai has paired the Prime Taxi range with ownership-focused support aimed at fleet customers. Buyers can opt for extended warranty coverage up to the 4th and 5th year or 1,80,000 KM, whichever comes earlier. Flexible finance options allow repayment tenures of up to 72 months, lowering entry barriers for first-time taxi operators. Dedicated Fleet Care Advisors will be available at dealerships to handle commercial customers. Available in Atlas White, Typhoon Silver, and Abyss Black, the Prime HB and Prime SD position Hyundai as a serious player in the organised taxi market. It targets operators who want low running costs and safety coverage without moving into higher price brackets.
