The Hyundai Creta has achieved its highest-ever monthly sales in September 2025, marking a major milestone for the brand’s most successful SUV in the Indian market. According to official data, Hyundai sold 18,861 units of the Creta September 2025. It outperformed its previous best of 18,522 units in January 2025. This performance represents a 18.6% year-on-year (YoY) growth compared to the 15,902 units sold in September 2024. The company’s total domestic sales for September 2025 stood at 51,547 units, while exports contributed an additional 18,800 units, taking the overall figure to 70,347 units. Notably, 72.4% Hyundai sales have been drawn by SUVs. The Creta’s record-breaking month showcases its strong hold in the mid-size SUV segment, where it continues to compete closely with the Kia Seltos, Skoda-VW twins, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Honda Elevate.

Contributing Factors Behind The Strong Performance

Several factors contributed to the Creta’s exceptional sales in September. The launch of the 2024 facelift brought refreshed styling, new features, and a new model (Creta N Line) that strengthened its appeal. Hyundai’s decision to offer six airbags and advanced connected features as standard across variants also played a key role in attracting buyers. Additionally, the festive season demand and improved production efficiency helped Hyundai meet the growing market appetite. It grew 18.44% month-on-month, compared to the 15,924 units sold in August 2025. The GST reduction on SUVs, effective from September 22, indirectly boosted sentiment in the broader SUV market. Dealer reports suggest that both petrol and diesel automatic variants saw high demand, with waiting periods extending up to six weeks in few regions.

Creta’s Segment Position

In the mid-size SUV category, the Creta remains one of the most consistent performers despite increasing competition. Rivals like the Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, and Maruti Grand Vitara have seen periodic sales spikes, but the Creta continues to maintain monthly volumes above 15,000 units since January 2025, barring May 2025 (14,860). Its wide variant range, available in 1.5-litre NA petrol, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel options, along with an electric powertrain, offers flexibility across price points. The Creta stands out due to it being a jack-of-all-trades. The SUV’s blend of practicality, brand trust, and feature-rich cabin continues to resonate with a broad customer base. Moreover, Hyundai’s focus on expanding its dealer network and improving after-sales service coverage has supported sustained growth.

What Lies Ahead For Hyundai & The Creta Brand

Following the success of the Creta, Hyundai is expected to build on its strong momentum during the festive quarter. The company has already expanded the Creta lineup with the Creta N Line and Creta Electric. With rising competition in the SUV space, maintaining consistent volumes will depend on how effectively Hyundai updates its offerings and pricing strategy. Hyundai will most likely launch the next generation of the Creta in 2027, with a possible hybrid powertrain. For now, the September 2025 milestone highlights how the Creta continues to serve as the cornerstone of Hyundai’s success in India. It draws high demand amid growing competition in one of the most competitive segments.
