Hyundai Motor India has revealed the first design sketches of the upcoming BAYON, previewing the styling of its new Intelligent Utility Vehicle. Developed as a global product, the Bayon is designed around a stronger SUV identity, urban versatility and a technology-focused cabin.
The sketches also introduce Hyundai’s evolving Art of Steel design language, which combines sculpted surfaces, sharp character lines and architectural proportions.
Exterior Design

The front design features a sculpted hood, pronounced fenders and distinctive H-Edge lighting. Additionally, the SUV gets robust lower-body elements and muscular proportions, giving the Bayon a more pronounced SUV stance.
Hyundai says the design focuses on creating a sporty and youthful appearance while maintaining a confident character. Meanwhile, the sharp surfaces and defined lines are intended to highlight the vehicle’s strength and movement.
Technology-Focused Interior

The interior sketch provides an early look at a cabin designed around technology, connectivity and intuitive interactions. Hyundai describes the cabin as modern and intelligently crafted, with an emphasis on creating a premium in-car experience.
However, the company has not yet revealed detailed information about the dashboard layout, screen sizes, seating configuration or equipment list. More details are expected closer to the SUV’s launch.
Art Of Steel Design Language
The Bayon showcases Hyundai’s evolving Art of Steel design philosophy. The approach focuses on shaping steel into forms that convey strength, movement and character. As a result, the SUV combines architectural proportions with sculpted surfaces and pronounced body volumes. The H-Edge lighting signature further gives the Bayon a distinctive visual identity.
Designed For Urban Mobility

Hyundai says the BAYON was conceived for customers who primarily drive in urban environments but still want the confidence and visual character associated with an SUV. Therefore, the design combines a compact urban-focused concept with a stronger SUV stance. Inside, Hyundai is aiming for a balance between technology, connectivity, comfort and ease of use.
India Launch & Expectations
Hyundai has confirmed that the BAYON will be introduced in India, although the company has not yet announced its launch date. Technical specifications, powertrain options, dimensions, features and pricing are also yet to be revealed. More information is expected as Hyundai progresses towards the SUV’s India introduction.
Expected Powertrain Options
The Bayon is expected to use Hyundai’s 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, currently offered in the Creta. The engine is expected to be available with manual and CVT gearbox options.
Furthermore, Hyundai is expected to offer a factory-fitted CNG version, potentially using an underbody-mounted tank. If introduced as expected, the Bayon would become Hyundai’s first model above four metres in length to offer a factory-fitted CNG powertrain.
Positioning & Rivals
The Bayon will sit between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s India line-up. Its positioning also gives Hyundai another model in the increasingly competitive midsize SUV space.
The SUV is expected to be priced between Rs 9 lakh and Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, it could sit alongside models such as the Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Grand Vitara, although Hyundai is yet to confirm the final pricing and positioning.
Verdict
The first design sketches establish the Hyundai BAYON as a technology-focused urban SUV with a distinctive exterior and modern cabin theme. Furthermore, the H-Edge lighting, sculpted surfaces and pronounced fenders give it a clear visual identity. Details about its powertrains, features and pricing will determine how the BAYON fits into Hyundai’s India SUV portfolio.
